It's always funny when some scrub is torching the team whose homer broadcast you're watching and they have to pretend that it's not just trash defense.

Cedi Osman blows by the Magic for an easy and-1 and the Magic color guy is "that is what he does"...

Is it? Is that really what Cedi ****ing Osman "does", break down the defense in isolation then finish through contact?

AD is definitely hurt. Laboring out there. He's going to go on the shelf relatively soon.

Feels like LeBron is already checked out on this season. Don't see the Lakers making a trade. They're riding this out and will be 10th or worse.

Looks like Dean will be right on Cade. Yeah, it's early, but he was awful last year and has been awful this year.

B. Simmons
PG
34min 4pts 5reb 9ast 2-7 0-0 0-2 2st 1bl 2to 4 fouls oddly +2. Still. What a waste. Stealing money. Killing teams. A real shame. I used to enjoy him with the ball running the floor.

The Nuggets really need Murray to be good. He's been atrocious. Ben Simmons is getting a lot of flack -- justifiably so -- but Murray is also on a max contract, was a fringe max before his injury, and the Nuggets' window is right now, this season and next. There's a lot of pressure on this team. The Lakers suck and this should be a blowout, but they're not playing with much intensity.

Also, this roster is not that great. It's totally dependent on Murray being a worthy second star creator. The rest of the pieces are fine -- a worthy No. 1 star, a decent supporting cast of role-players, an average bench, perimeter defenders that can match up with waterbugs (KCP) or thugs (Gordon), young and cheap rotational upside (Hyland, Braun) -- but they are as dependent on Murray being a 20 PER type player as the Nets are dependent on Simmons being an all-world defender.

It seems like the only true superduper mega star in the NBA is Giannis. He's clearly No. 1. Everyone else is way behind. LeBron/KD have aged out. Doncic isn't quite the shooter he needs to be. Kawhi might be dunzo as a reliable No. 1. And even Giannis has a pretty major playoff weakness (ball-handling/decision-making out of the PnR). Curry's definitely No. 2.

This could be the year for a shocking major midseason star trade, because so many teams are just good, but not truly great.

6:50 in the 3rd Q is what I mean re AD. He just can't run anymore. Jokic beat him down the court and the Nugs got an easy bucket because AD wasn't athletic enough to challenge Jokic for position.

It's not fatigue. It's injury.

He still has above-average short burst explosion, and can still turn it up in moments. But it's not a part of his being anymore. Because he was probably the League's best athlete, even a 20-40% decline from him has him as an above-average athlete. You don't feel him anymore, though. He plays below the rim far more than he used to. He isn't able to pressure the glass as much anymore. He's just way worse as a basketball player.

Of course the commentators completely ignore/miss it.

Eventually the NBA will absolutely have to lower how many games are played. This isn't sustainable. Almost nobody can stay healthy anymore. Whoever wins this season will basically be, "Who stays the healthiest?" Star players are forced to pace themselves.

By the way, LeBron and AD have taken one free throw so far. LeBron has been passive as a mouse. They just don't have the athleticism anymore to pressure defenses. Before they could dominate even with poor shooting. Now they *need* good shooting around them to give them more space.

Nobody's going under back surgery for a fakery. Super dangerous and dumb.

Being a great athlete matters so much. I only took a short peek at Simmons, but he's not the athlete he was before. Definitely looks smaller. And he was as dependent on his athleticism as anyone in the L.

Lakers should push hard cuz this is basically their season. But lol @ 1 FT going into the 4Q vs a team without an interior defender.

I watched the Bubble super closely. LeBron was licking his chops every time he got an opportunity to drive in to Jokic. I think he's accepted he's not the same player.

Speaking of injuries, Dame got hurt. Strained calf.

Father Time catches up to everyone. I'm suspect about his ability to stay healthy anymore as well.

Shaedon Sharpe looks interesting. Will be nice to see how he looks in extended minutes.

Also throw in LaVine. Missing the first two games of the season after what he went through last year and his reliance on otherworldly athleticism is also a huge red flag. Gotta wonder why in the world the Bulls gave him that contract if they knew his knees would cause him to miss 20G/year going forward. These teams must be just printing money.

Barack Obama Reportedly Involved In Group Bidding To Purchase Suns

The Phoenix Suns are up for sale and there have been a number of groups preparing bids on the franchise. One notable person potentially involved in buying the franchise is Barak Obama.

"The days of somebody being able to put in a little amount of money and run the team.. those days are over," said Bill Simmons. "That was a moment. The one guy who might pull it off and I heard, I'm probably breaking some news here, but I heard Obama is involved in one of the groups. And that's the one guy who I feel like would make him the actual face, and the money guys would be so happy to have him in the front."

Obama played basketball in high school and is said to be a close observer of the NBA.

The NBA currently only has one lead African-American owner in Michael Jordan of the Charlotte Hornets.

BILL SIMMONS/THE RINGER

-----------------------------------------

You know what? I could totally see this happening. For the record, Barack's net worth with his wife is only $70~ million, so I doubt he'd contribute much of anything to the purchase.
