lol his d has been worse than his offense. my friend, who does not follow basketball was watching the game with me, and she said "what is no5 doing? does he have a brain?"

he just aimlessly runs around on defense. its bizarre.

his backup is cedi osman who hasnt gotten any minutes. cavs forum has been clamoring for cedi for 3 months now so maybe they are right. I mean, it cant hurt at this point. hes been super streaky for years but sure doesnt look like jr is gonna turn it around any time soon. thats why I am hoping he hit up the APL and got him a campanion along with a

he has 6 points in 84 minutes on the road this series and lue keeps playing him on the road. i guess their BFFs. the problem i guess must be hood, clarkson are just worse which is very hard to really imagine if they got minutes.

I'm sad that JR has been so awful lately. He played the 2016 GSW series like a smart, seasoned vet and was HUGE in game 7 not only for those 3rd quarter buckets that brought them back, but his screening and re-screening to keep getting Steph switched onto Lebron and Kyrie was crucial.

Like JR had .600+ in 2016 and last year basically .700 TS% which is sick for someone who doesn't shoot much. This year he's below .500. Cavs need him to stretch out the court for Lebron. They need another reliable 3 point shooter especially if he's playing matador D and getting stupid fouls.

ya I will always love JR. he was massive in the chicago series in 2015 too. and when the lost in 2015 there were games he kept them in. now, I think hes just run out of gas. hes pretty old and has played a lot of minutes.

but therapy dogs!

his defense was great in that series too.

Yeah and it was him who allowed for Lebron to have his most iconic moment. If he doesn't get up on Steph quick enough and then recover to Iggy "The Block" never happens.

JR should basically never see the court and Korver should be max chucking on max minutes.

Celtics +7 versus Cavs seems like a nice contrarian bet.

I don't think LeBron James has the energy to crush the Celtics all by himself.

CP3 out for game 6. Oh man if Houston wins this one at Oracle sans CP3...

I think putting an equal amount on the Houston ML and GSW -11 is the play here.

Houston probably handling it best to rule him out early. Warrior probably 80% for Game 6 with Paul out. If he plays, I don't think those odds change a lot.

Try and get him up for Game 7. No point risking him in a Game 6 with an ongoing injury issue.

In the meantime hope for one of those stupid 20-55 three point shooting nights in Game 6. Basically freerolling.

cook 3 was fine, nonsense to say otherwise. he bobbled it which threw his rhythm off, but he was still wide open. gotta take that shot. final play was good, dray just blew it. durant shouldn't be the initiator of the crunch time offense. rockets are timing their doubles well when he tries to iso and he can't reliably beat them w/passes*. also pressuring his dribble which he can't really handle which is blowing up the offense sometimes. just put curry on the ball, preferably in pnr. he will get into the sets faster and make better reads. if kerr really really wants the ball in durant's hands then run the pnr with curry and durant. but i would say run it early with curry/dray and let the ball work its way to durant. really though just let the ball start with curry (mix in dray occasionally) and find whoever it finds. this iso durant stuff from kerr is really bizarre and runs counter to what they have generally run. also even in the past when durant has been iso'd i think the circumstances were different. there were still actions happening early in the clock rather than just kinda handing him the ball early in the clock and letting him dictate the entire play

disclaimer: i only saw the last 5 min of the game

* this defensive strat was a big part of how the dubs came back vs okc in 2016 fwiw

It was a weird game by Curry. I don't even think he played bad.

22/7/6 with 4 steals while shooting 8/17. And he was fine defensively.

The thing that stood out is that he didn't have that "gravity" he has when the Warriors play well.

I'd take it.

It's really weird to criticize that play. Everyone has been taking shots at the Warriors for not playing their offense. Well, what is there offense? Move the ball around heaps until someone gets an open look.

You can't have it both ways.
in general yes, take that shot, but it's the being down 1 with 35 secs makes it prolly not optimal

no gravity b/c no off ball actions were being run. i think he was decent down the stretch--again i didn't see the whole game-- but no one on the dubs can really be said to have played well in crunch time. i was also kinda generally speaking about his/their level of play. maybe he was ok last night and durant was bad. they were both bad in crunch time game 4, though curry was better in both instances. which again, it's just going to work better when he initiates the sets

So, he shouldn't have taken the shot? A wide open 3 by a 40%+ shooter is about as "optimal" a shot as you can get on a basketball court that isn't a dunk.

He makes that 50% of the time. We just happen to be in the reality he missed it.

I realize that Steph was fairly open at the top of the key, but a shooter (which is what he is), is not hesitating in that spot ever. And he shouldn't, and if he does he shouldn't be on the floor.
