Funny thing with Kobe vs LeBron talk with casual/kobe lovers, is that its hard to find one season where Kobe has been better than LeBron in his peak.

It's impossible to find a year where Kobe had a top 3 MVP season

Edit : ok I was wrong. In 2004 he definitely deserved to be 3rd behind TD and KG. That''s it

It seems to be impossible for anyone to speak intelligently about Kobe on either side.

With that said the Kobe haters come off significantly dumber on average

Literally noone thinks he has a claim to GOAT. Maybe him I guess. The people who think he's better than LBJ have their GOAT, and aren't exactly open minded about the topic

Reddit NBA and Facebook comments are some of the worst things ever. I have a IRL friend who claims 90s basketball is the best ever. I never ever talk basketball with him, it's just too painful to go through. 1. MJ, 2. Kobe. Everything always comes back to 5 rings.

A rich man's version of a superstar is pretty damn good

Demar DeRozan - Super Star has a nice ring to it.

Might need to keep that around when David West - All Star retires soon.

Few things. Russell and Wilt don't make it. Its way too hard to value them imo so I leave them out and someone can put them in between 5-20 and theyd be fine. Don't think they belong on any top 5 list though. I rate peak pretty high. The way I see it someone like Shaq has a peak of 4/5 years which is so high, gives a higher ring equity than anyone not named MJ/LBJ. Even though it accounts for 20% of his career (most stars is around 50% unless your name is Lebron and its 90%), it was so damn elite, just overrides a lot of guys.

Honorable mentions : Kobe, O.Robinson, D.Robinson, Steph, Durant, Stockton, Malone.

Tier 1
1A. Michael Jordan
1B. LeBron James

Tier2
3. Shaquille O'Neal
4. Magic Johnson
5. Kareem
6. Larry Bird
7. Tim Duncan
8. Hakeem

Tier 3
9. Kevin Garnett
10. Dirk

Think you can mash up tier 2 a lot and wouldn't bother me. Tier 3 would extend with Oscar>Kobe>M.Malone>Durant or something like that. Durant prob goes 11 if he rings, stays outside of 15 if he doesnt, and obviously goes 1. LeBron, 2. Jordan if LeBron rings.

EDIT

Perfect realistic "super team" imo

Wall
Klay
Lebron
Ibaka
M.Gasol
well Ill say it. lol bird. I put all 4 of those guys ahead of him.

Bird and Dirk both overrated there, especially Dirk.

Overrated huh? Grading absolute basketball talent Bird wins by a landslide. Wasn't athletic, couldn't jump, wasn't fast, yet dominated everyone he faced.

but Wilt was a physical force far ahead of time. I'm surprised he is still so historically underrated, you'd think the #stats era would treat him better. he has a strong claim as GOAT ahead of MJ or Lebron

Well if Russell and Wilt played today are they allowed to eat the same hormone induced foods, take supplements and workout? Or do they just have to show up straight from the 60's?
