Cliffs on LAC/Utah game? missed it

Did Cp just not make shots like he has all series or did the D make it harder on him? Seems like LAC just finally ran out of gas with the other guys.

I guess when Austin Rivers is your 2nd best player it might be hard to score vs a good defensive team.

Just the IT dynamic is different than almost anything we've seen. He is 1 of the best offensive players in the NBA, but he is maybe the worst defensive player (atleast that gets minutes) If you can't exploit his bad D because you have to play someone like Oubre, then it makes playing D so much easier for the Celts. Can put Smart/Bradley on the Wiz backcourt guys, Crowder on Porter, everything falls into place.

If they tried to hide him on Porter he would go to the glass on him more, probably get baskets off cuts, maybe some brush screens to force a switch. Oubre just can't really do much of that. And then without having to worry about Kief, the Celts can put a 3rd wing/shooter on the court and IT/horford PnR is devastating with the 3rd shooter, as Chi foundout.

Bogdon is bad too for other reasons, but I thought he should've started the 2nd half. He can atleast move without the ball, come off screens, shoot the ball and make IT work. Not a lot of options for Brooks after those starters. Mahimni back would be nice for them but that is independent of Kief and more of a 2nd unit thing/way better than Jason Smith thing really.

And if IT doesn't have to work on D, obviously that helps him on O a lot.

bogdanovic is also not bad at posting up a bit as well, def well enough to take advantage of IT

Don't follow the Jazz but thought they looked good this series. Seem very well-coached. Excellent passing, lots of easy looks and some quality scorers. Pretty solid on D as well. Hope they give GS a run.

So much of their offensive success was based on the guy in the thread title playing way over his head, and that probably isn't happening vs GS.

Think they go down in 5 and don't plan to watch much of it unless they get a few games and it has a "The Russian is cut!" moment.

Ditto for Cle/Tor, but Tor probably does make that interesting at some point in the series, even if it isn't for long.

Why would any team whose primary motivation is to win trade for Melo, ever? He'd be particularly toxic on that team.

Yeah, best fit for LAC is a Carroll/Crowder type wing or two.

Either way, he's an athletic young wing with a motor.

Guys that care can press way too hard in year 1 of a big deal, doesn't necessarily mean they feel they've arrived and coasted.

Did Reddick do anything at all the entire series? He was so unplayable Doc would play him for a couple minutes and take him out? If that is the production that reddick is going to give you, it isn't going to work

I think with Blake it would be a bad fit, but if you could somehow trade Blake for a wing then Melo at the 4 could be effective. CP3 can keep his worst habits under control and you can maybe get him for almost nothing. Crawford/W Johnson/filler/pick.

Don't love it but low risk/high reward with where they are right now isn't bad.

Agree with others the main thing is they need to find some wings though. But that is almost any team right now. The Blake situation really restricts what they can do, if you could deal him anywhere then it would make things easier.
