Barnes opts out of 25m wow....First big V and now him?

These guys must think FA is going to be nuts.

Could see Kings just straight maxing Horford now tbh

With all the big moves happening now, they better join the party or they'll fight for a mid-level next year as every team will be capped

NBA teams are really stupid when it comes to big summers, once they make room for a free agency, they fill the cap with whatever is left even if they miss out

If they don't spend big money on those guys, they'll give random roleplayers 10m/year over multiple years. Anyway in a year either half of the team will have a dead 25m/year contract on a terrible player, or all the role players will be overpaid

There is going to be a lot of cap space next offseason. 2016 was when the cap went up dramatically, and all the four-year deals handed out that offseason will be done after this next season.

Agree on paying roleplayers 3-4yr deals 8-12m has way more misses than hits. A lot of these guys just get those deals because max is artificially suppressed.

That's why if I'm a team like the Kings I probably just offer Horford 4/145 or whatever it is and call it a day. What else are you gonna do with the money? You have long-term starters at 3/5 positions already.

Unless you go the other way and take on salary for picks to get as many lottery tickets as possible.

What do we think about Bledsoe's extension now?

Was initially praised, then differing opinions when he struggled in the PO's.

Next offseason there's nobody to sign if AD stays with the Lakers, more wasted cap

Next FA Party is summer 2021 (Giannis, Gobert, Yolodipo, Demar, Dame, George, Lebron? ....)

After the top Free Agent are handled in a month teams that haven't hit will have 2 full free agency of nothing to do with their money, and usually that's a recipe for disaster

Unless something magically changed this year and all the role players/notmax worthy player will be signed on 2 years deal + TO

Most amazing thing with that is that a rookie from the 2017 draft is worth so much more than one drafted in 2016. One team will cripple its capspace before FA party, the other will be able to work with bird rights

My guess is the guys that benefit from next summer are the RFA's like Jamal Murray, Jaylen Brown and Buddy Hield. Siakam and Simmons are getting maxes either way.

Lakers incompetence has been staggering but I gotta think the plan is to go into 2021 with AD maxed, LeBron restructuring and the rest is cap room. Atleast it should be.

Don't like him on that team and said so all throughout ECSF-ECF. But contract probably fine as long as they don't lose Brog-Lopez over it.

Cap hell for the charlotte hornets is bad.

Cap hell when you have LBJ and Davis is fine. The more salary they can add to this team the better. Theyd love to have a 160MM payroll in 2021. The problem is acquiring players

I believe it is extremely bad. It has really stunted their growth

I think Murray and Brown would get a Max after their rookie contract anytime in the last 12 years. Unless Brown really sucks next year, but they showed max promise already so they are getting it no matter the cap situation

Buddy Hield has to keep showing things next year to be a lockmax but he's close to it

On the other hand John Collins/Kyle Kuzma are now probably two of the most premium assets in the NBA, you have them you can plan 3 max contract summer in 2021 + a potential allstar on bird rights with a low caphold. Hawks are in such a good situation, they could title with a superteam in 2022

Release him and use the stretch provision.

Yeah don't see how they move Paul unless it is for like Wiggins/Cov or something.

Any deal they move him is going to likely hurt their title equity next year and next year they probably have more title equity than they will for the next 10 years

Also I'd do Olynyk + JJ + Waiters even if the Paul contract runs a year longer
