Listening to the Simmons pod on the Lakers trade and he said the Pelicans roster is the best situation ever for a potential rookie superstar.

I’m sure there’s a bunch of examples from the 70s with plumbers and electricians that was better, but he might be right post 1980

Kobe was the 13th pick so you could quibble with him being a potential rookie superstar. That's why I didn't include him but he ldo would've been a top 3 pick a couple years later, once drafting high schoolers was normalized.

His situation was pretty amazing tho with Shaq, Van Exel, Elden Campbell, Horry, and Eddie Jones.

Oh, Duncan too. Duh.

Duncan probably had the best situation

A 62-win team that made conference finals the year before Robinson got hurt and the GOAT coach

I was looking at the Disabled Player Exception. Looks like only GSW could use this on Durant and not any another team. This would give GSW a non-taxpayer mid-level exception to sign another free agent. Teams can apply for an exception on July 1.

He didn't mention Penny, he did mention Magic/Bird. Said since Magic/Bird.

But yeah he conveniently decided that guys that ended up mega-busts weren't potential superstars at the time. Just went results oriented. Tried to say Duncan situation wasn't great and Russillo was just like ok, nah that's dumb.

When he talked stars being traded he was pretty selective too. Like he didn't include the Deron Williams trade even though he was considered a perennial all-star top 2 PG at the time. That was main 1 that he didn't mention.

I think I would give him 3/54 and hope he takes it. Would be a good fit on the Laker's but he's probably out of their price range.

Any talk out there on what Bog is expecting to get paid?
I was going to include him but figured he was probably too rich for the Lakers blood and Lakers spending like 2/3rd of their available cap on him just seemed a bit much. Although they're pretty much capable of anything right now.

I read Spurs have interest in him like a week ago.

I hadn't listened to his podcast for years but now listen to all of them that RR is on. Hadn't caught this one yet.

As long foreshadowed, Russillo plays VP of common sense.

Same...I never listened to like him/Joe House, cousin sal, his dad, etc...All that stuff.

But I like the Russillo ones. Was a good addition.

Lol dodger. I had the same thought Re: Bogs. But it seems bad, he is a player the spurs would covet who will probably still be undervalued. We'll see.

Even if the Lakers can get Davis to waive his 4 million , and get kiwi to accept less, how could they really fill out their roster with like 8 million or so left? Just doesn't seem possible. They'll be so thin, even super teams need decent role players. Winning ships is hard.

3/54 should get it done
I guess he’s probably be the cream of the non-max crop. Might make him a hot enough commodity to command a fourth year

LA’s awful summer last year will come back to bite them when rounding out their roster. If they added decent players last year on one year deals, they would be able to keep them around instead of Rondo/Stephenson/Beasley

LeBron will recruit Melo for the min.

LeBron has said that he knows Melo even better than Melo knows himself, so LeBron will bring out the best in him.

Horford declining was always expected, we'll see what he does from here. Only team I really see offering more than Celts is possibly the Kings and not sure he wants to go there. Maybe LAC if it meant getting Kawhi and Kawhi wanted to compete right away and Horford was best guy avail and willing to come. Maybe Utah or Denver I suppose. If Utah can wing the Conley trade (Favors/Exum/Korver/picks/young guys) and then pay Horford like 20-25m that could work.

Looking at the landscape right now, any chance anyone pulls off a '08 Celts and just goes for it? Obviously not to the level of getting a KG/Allen type pedigree/talent but I just mean teams really being able to push all-in. Especially in the West.

The Lakers increasingly look like their roster is going to be underwhelming besides their big 2, coaching is a question mark, so is ownership, so is durability of their 2 best players, etc

The Rockets seem like they have some issues right now. Fertitta in general seems like kindof a loon, I dunno if it is the HGH he is on but guy just seems pretty unstable for an owner.

I don’t understand how this visceral hatred and personal animosity towards LeBron can blind people from the truth. The Lakers just traded a bunch of scrubs for a Hall of Famer, top 5 player in his prime. Josh Hart is ****ing terrible and coming off a bad injury. I like Lonzo but he’s also coming off a terrible injury and has an extremely capped ceiling due to being a PG who can’t shoot and shoots 40% from the FT line on like 1 attempt per game. Ingram is also ok but can’t really shoot either and will get paid next season. None of these guys are even top 100 NBA players. The #4 overall pick is gonna be DeAndre Hunter or Culver, both of whom are bona fide scrubs who can’t play. No disrespect whatsoever.

The Lakers traded a rotten penny, two nickels, and the rights to a few scratch off lotto tickets for a crisp $100 bill.
its called wanting
