That's a really poor signing by the Grizz.
07-02-2017 , 10:55 PM
Worth a risk. There's value in taking guys who have been in the Sacramento circus.

Who else would you want them to add to their team in this market?
5 million is the exact amount of space they had
07-02-2017 , 11:15 PM
Millsap to the Nuggets, $100M/3y
07-02-2017 , 11:16 PM
I heard the last year is a team option, that can't be true. 3/90 is a steal by itself.
07-02-2017 , 11:17 PM
Having him 3 years is perfect to. Much better then giving up Harris and getting Love back.

West is getting better and better. Everybody is leaving WTF.

Hey at least Detroit makes the playoffs now right?

Really? What exactly is the downside? It's 2 years and no money. McLemore came out of school with a decent pedigree and was drafted by one of the worst organizations in the league. He's exactly what the Grizzlies need and he's still young. Why not take a flier on him and hope part of the reason he sucks is bc the Kings are clueless? Maybe he can turn into a good shooting 2 guard. If he doesn't and keeps being bad, does it really hurt you that much? Seems like a move that has a lot more upside than risk.

Mem crushed that contract

I guess so. I don't see him improving much and he's been in the Sacramento squad too long. Idk, long term prospects for the team aren't great. Like hoping for a 7-8 seed this year and a first round exit are the best term prospects of the team unless they hit pay dirt with one of their picks and maybe parsons at least plays 80% of what he used to be. I honestly think they should blow things up but doubt it'll happen with all the cash they put towards their stars. Stinks that the team has no equity now and no real future equity with their current players and the future landscape of the league.

My thoughts exactly. He's shown flashes with the lol kings. With the right ownership and coaching he could be a solid player. 5m/yr is nothing nowadays.

I guess I disagree about the state of the roster. Conley and Gasol are really good, you surround them with role players who can do role player stuff their ceiling is decently high. Unfortunately when you are paying those two, and have a contract like Parsons, you don't have a lot of flexibility. So the answer is taking fliers on guys who aren't valued too high currently but could turn it around in the right environment. BMac is an example of that imo, and more importantly, he could potentially provide something (shooting from the wing) that they don't have and haven't had in sometime.

It's easy to say, well they can't ever be as good as GS so why bother. But that's just unrealistic. The fact of the matter is they have two extremely good players signed for a bunch of money. They have no choice but to go for it even if they will never really have much title equity. McLemore is a good signing bc it could help them and also can't hurt them.

They took the Spurs to 6
07-03-2017 , 12:00 AM
Yup agreed great signing imo. Not so much because it's great value or anything just that it's the exact sort of move that makes sense for them, for reasons Geoff stated. With so many teams making "WTF, why would they do that?" moves these days, a bit of sound reasoning behind a move is all you can really ask for
07-03-2017 , 12:09 AM
If you pay a guy 5 million and he can be in your rotation, that's a win.
He's kind of redundant with Troy Daniels, but McLemore just has upside that is really hard to acquire.

I wish nothing but good things for Conley and TRG.

I mean yeah they should be locked into playoffs with the pacers, hawks, bulls being completely awful. Still have a maxed out cap and low talent roster though. Its not like were a 6-8 in the west with strong talent to watch on TV. I'd rather suck and have a shot to rebuild into a better team.

I'm on the sixers bandwagon now. Go sixers.

Ben will be 24 this year, he's a 35% 3pt shooter on over 1000 attempts so far in his career. He is 100% worth his contract. Memphis should also be better for him in every way

The 76ers are a real dark horse to get LeBron James next off-season, at which point; Hinkie is a lock HOFer
07-03-2017 , 12:33 AM
Yeah I wish the WILves had signed McLemore to that deal.
07-03-2017 , 12:56 AM
grizz wing rotation seems thin. they are letting tony allen go right? that's a cheap deal for mclemore and he is playable.

Denver is according to Kevin O'Connor looking to dump Faried/Arthur in order to go after George Hill.

By far their worst rotation spots last year were PF and PG. If they can dump those guys and grab Hill, that would probably be the best Denver team OAT and slight favorites to get out of round 1. The Western Conference struggle is real.

Not sure if I'd want Gallo or Hill at this point. I love Gallo and am not a huge fan of flat-earther Wilson Chandler, but replacing Gallo/Faried/Jameer with Chandler/Millsap/Hill creates so many different defensive schemes that could work with Jokic.
