I hope my pony is not dead here, but they will sign Paul Gasol, so they do not actually have $13m.

Lets look at the PG market

Strong Buyers
TOR(Only for Lowry. Likely not much cap space if he leaves.)
NOP(Only for Jrue. Not much cap if he leaves)

Medium Buyers
IND(They have said they were fine with Lance at PG while rebuilding, now they got Dipo too)
DEN(Shams has them as a current option for Hill, but they also have a bunch of guards and seem to love Murray and Harris)
NYK(Trying to rebuild and drafted the french kid, but also reported as an option for Hill)
ORL(weirdly few pg rumors for them. Have Elf and DJA under contract, maybe Watson too)
DAL(they say DSJ is the starter and have Barea, Yogi and possibly Harris)
CHI(Rumours of Teodosic, but also have 3 young PGs and LaVine too.)

Lower end Buyers
PHI maybe for Hill since he or Fultz can play the 2 and they just have a ton of money.
SAC for a high end backup anyways or someone who can also play with Fox, but they have SGs too

And for options as potential starters we got

Lowry
Jrue
Hill
Teodosic possibly
Collison
Rondo
Rose

I think there's some real opportunities for the teams to play hardball here. The alternatives aren't really there for Lowry and Jrue. Hill is very likely gonna have to go to a place that's either gonna be bad next year and have young guys at the position or go to Denver who should be in the playoffs pretty easy, but also have really solid young players at the positions. Maybe there's a sign and trade situation for Hill too.

I wonder if the Wolves and Spurs will regret locking in PGs tonight.

I believe the plan is to sign Gasol with the MLE exception (8.4M/yr) so they can still spend 13m.

Hill is the ONE pg who makes sense to go there because he's good off-ball and their de-facto PG is their center. A Hill/Harris/Murray frontcourt with a little Mudiay sprinkled in would be pretty sweet because you can theoretically play all of them at the same time. It would be a monumental improvement from the 3500 minutes of Mudiay and Jameer that we saw last year.

And because Hill is old and hurt a lot Murray still gets plenty of starter time.

If the market does indeed cool I could see it working. My guess is there is possibility GH takes a 1+1, which would be ideal.

Didn't Hill turn down 3/80 from Jazz? lol @ him
07-01-2017 , 03:10 AM
lol @ his agent... which is now his former agent.

I know I'm repeating what some others have noted but I still think it's pretty funny how I'm much more interested in some of this off-season stuff than huge swaths of the playoffs.

IMO truth was, teams just weren't offering much. He's probably 90%+ going to LAL next year and teams know it.
Or Indy ownership's priorities are business reasons, so they don't want a complete tank/rebuild for mainly picks, don't want to trade PG13 within the East, love IUDipo, and think they can still fight for a playoff spot in the wEakst.

I mean, sure, maybe the other offers weren't quite as good as reported, but do you really think that the very best offer ever available was only Dipo and Baby Bonis?

3 draft picks, Crowder and AB are certainly better then what they ended up getting. It's pretty obvious they just didn't want PG in the eastern conference. I get on Ainge all the time for over rating his players and draft picks but he would have been stupid to give up a lot for PG who may .leave next year anyway. He doesn't deserve the blame this time

8 milliom a year for Cristiano Felicio is the most lol signing so far.

Millsap to the wolves woild be an incredible fit. Dieng + 1st should get it done.

Teague-Butler-Wiggins-Millsap-Kat gives them pretty good chance at top 4 seed.
07-01-2017 , 06:25 AM
Yeah wolves would look pretty prime for a 4 seed behind GSW/SAS/HOU. Utah and the Clips should fall pretty badly. Guess OKC is in the mix now too
07-01-2017 , 06:48 AM
Wolves talent in any other era is contender. This era they are basically drawing dead to 1 out for a chop.
07-01-2017 , 06:48 AM
Wolves need to trade Wiggins. He doesn't fit at all there really.
07-01-2017 , 07:27 AM
Wolves were right to move on from rubio but for jeff teague at that price it's a bit meh.
07-01-2017 , 07:44 AM
Teague @~20mm/yr seems like a solid signing for wolves

are wolves good enough to be #3 seed? I still think rockets should be #2 once morey finishes his work with the roster

Idk, I think this roster has enough scoring and athleticism that some of the fit issues won't end up being a huge deal, especially with good rotations, maybe I'm too optimistic but pretty excited to see this team play
07-01-2017 , 08:04 AM
It's always kinda confused me why everyone thinks Teague sucks. I think he's pretty good and he's about to be their 5th best player. It's not like they're counting on him to be a star. He is great at getting to the rim and runs a good pnr. Isn't a bad shooter either. Also is durable and in the prime of his career coming off his best season. You guys have strong feelings about the weirdest things. 3 year deal's that go from ages 29-31 are usually good business.
07-01-2017 , 08:04 AM
Pelicans wow you guys will continue to suck despite having 2 top 15 talents.
07-01-2017 , 08:06 AM
Think the minny front office is killing it

How they've convinced good to great players to come to LOL MINNESOTA is impressive
07-01-2017 , 08:06 AM
I don't love Teague but based on his stats that's a good deal for both teams.
07-01-2017 , 08:06 AM
From what I understand that was a use it or lose it with it with Jrue and they wouldn't have been able to sign anyone else even if he walks.
07-01-2017 , 08:08 AM
It's not that I despise Teague he's just a nothingburger, but he's a nothingburger who needs the ball in his hands. Butler also needs the ball in his hands. And we saw last year what happens when Wiggz plays with too many guys who handle the ball. He checks out and does **** all.
