Bad news for the Spurs obv (even though I did not want CP3 to the Spurs).

Spurs have always suffered with Harden and they have no one who can defend CP3. Now these two things are paired. Not good. The only hope is that the massive coaching advantage the Spurs have will show in a play-off series.

Does this make sense?
Lol Melo......I guess he could be slanking cause of Phil but he's also old and not what you need to beat the Warriors.

Only real ways for the spurs to win are injuries to warriors/cavs/rockets or bink Lebron/Davis/Greek freak or like two all stars to come or be drafted to them. Their talent deficiency compared to the warriors is great and while the top 4 warriors are in their prime, you have Aldridge and pau as key cogs who are old and likely getting worse.

I think the crux of the disagreement has to do with how much people think CP3 moves the needle. I don't think he moves it at all. Nothing wrong with being a 55 win team for the next 4 years . There is likely NOTHING Houston could possibly do to win a title while GS is in tact.

It would have made a lot more sense to try to upgrade their defense and the Nene/Capela/Harrell trio of bigs.

I think some of you are just seriously overrating Chris Paul going forward.
06-28-2017 , 01:52 PM
LOL at CP3 not moving the needle. Healthy he's what, a top 5 player at worst?

Bogdan coming over for the full MLE. I really like it even though the money is too high imo. It saves Vlade from himself a little.

Sure its probably only a 2-3 year window but at least houston tries to get the players to win and doesn't just roll over like the rest of the league, I remember how close morey was to signing bosh
+1

Also it looks like PHIL got what he wanted. $24 million to sit on his ass in Montana and sip margaritas in LA.

Now let's keep Porzingis and GO KNACKS.

Yeah I actually agree with dood here. I got HOU as clear 2 in the west now and really, really close to CLE. The gap between CLE/HOU and GSW is still massive tho.

Both good points. I thought since Pop and Melo were on those Olympic teams, maybe they get along, and Melo would do whatever it takes (altering his game wise) to play for an amazing coach and team.

For Aldridge, I don't know how he fits in with the new Knicks, but he's a different type of PF than Porzingis, maybe they would work well together.

That's the amazing thing, it's adding a top 5 player to a very good team. Too bad, the warriors added a top 2 player to a GOATish team. The issue is the competition is so nasty. I hope harden and Chris Paul can work together but harden's best year was as a pg although harden can play off ball.

No he's not "top 5 at worst". That would imply he's better than one of Curry, Durant, Kawhi, LeBron, or Harden.
06-28-2017 , 02:01 PM
Check the stats yo.

I think you're right he's probably top 6/7 when healthy. Can't put him above the Joker.
06-28-2017 , 02:01 PM
I'd take him over Harden, not sure for what % of his next contract, but for sure right now
06-28-2017 , 02:03 PM
Houston won 55 games last year and 6 playoff games.

I'll take under 57.5 wins and under 8.5 playoff wins for anyone who thinks they got a lot better.

Will take over on each for $50. Don't love it tho.

He's not top 6 or 7 either. In addition to the 5 guys I named he's also worse than Westbrook and will likely be worse than at least one of Giannis, Nokia, Brow, KAT, and Gobert this upcoming season.

check his stats though, and he's a very good defender as opposed to Harden being a terrible defender

Check Harden's stats

I'd rather have CP3 than Harden on most teams next year if we were guaranteed full health. As is I'd take is Harden but it's close. This is the last year this is applicable for CP3 tho as I think all the guys Tut listed will def be better than him in two years if not next year.

So Paul doesn't opt out, plays this year for $24M, then will sign a 5/205 that pays him in his age 33, 34, 35, 36 and 37 seasons?

I mean, good for Paul, getting the Age 36 rule removed, and finding a way to get the biggest possible contract while getting to the lowest tax possible state. I'm seriously impressed.
06-28-2017 , 02:10 PM
What stats am I supposed to be checking that show CP3>Harden?
06-28-2017 , 02:11 PM
I got CP3 as being a garbage loser for his entire career who makes the Rockets worse by addition, which makes this trade terrible.

There will also be no more unwatchable team in the league than the Rockets. I will be rooting for their titanic collapse and for extreme difficulties putting up with CP3, the biggest b**** in the entire league both publicly and privately.

Any of these?

Remember when the Spurs beat the rockets with Kyle Anderson and Johnathan Simmons? Rockets being massively over rated in here. Also super lol at CP3 being top 5 at worst.

It's definitely close, but I'd rather have cp3 this year
