i think iggy would have walked if the dubs didn't pay up, but i think they were always going to pay up once he pressed them. don't think the dubs would have done a sign and trade

edit: also hilarious that harden calls in not knowing the meeting is happening and paul rolls in with his pitch

I'm sure it's true to the extent that Iguodala met with the Rockets and they made that offer. Don't think though that Morey can confirm whether Iguodala was seriously considering accepting the offer and wasn't just using it to create leverage.

Pride is a funny thing.

I'm sure you would've scoffed at David West passing up 12M to get paid 1.4M. Or baseball players that retire with money owed bc they feel it's not honorable to collect it. It works the other way too, if guys feel they've been disrespected.

eta: The article says he was only interested in Hou if it was a S&T. You can believe he wouldn't have taken the cash from Sacramento, it's not like it's a ridiculous thought though. Bellinelli went from a winner to get paid more there. Deng took stupid money from the horrible Lakers last year.

So does Crowder come off the bench for Cleveland?

He's got to play crunch time with LBJ, Love
09-20-2017 , 06:50 PM
While IT is out can they run LBJ - JR - Jae - Love - TT? Can any of those guys guard the 1? Prob not but the opposition PG would have a nightmare on D too. Would be interesting (or at least fun) to try LeBron as a pure PG

I agree with these, but yeah I remember at the time Harden's numbers were a bit inflated by him playing against second units.

Of course it really didn't matter who was in front of him in hindsight, but the thought of Harden/Durant basketball for a few years would have been a lot of fun.

So apparently the 6ers are looking to trade Okafor. Is he even worth anything at this point? I know he's young and he's a big and all, but if I had like pick 20 in the 2018 draft I feel like I'd just roll the dice with that instead of trade for Okafor.

Really not trying to hate, I just don't know what his value in the league is.

They've been openly trying to trade him for 18 months. No one wants him, I'd be pretty surprised that unless he shows some huge improvement there's not going to be anyone bother taking a flier until the off season when the Sixers prob decline his option if he still sucks.

Embiid is still hurt and not practicing. A torn meniscus is generally like 2, 3 months, right? I wonder if they are lying about what was wrong with him last year.

I'm sure he'll be fine. He's a young 28.

Sixers would need to attach an asset to get rid of LOLkafor.

Seems unlikely Jah is gonna be worth picking up the 4th year option for. You'd basically be trading for 1 year of him unless he looks great before the rookie contract option pick up date. If they didn't try, the Sixers should have literally traded him for whatever pick they could get at the draft.

Gonna lol when his option is picked up and he's 6th on their big man depth chart this year.

Also Brett Brown also said that he doesn't think he'll play Simmons with players that don't shoot 3s. And said no minutes restrictions for Simmons for more Sixers news.

What's the research on how much the numbers of players who come off the bench are inflated by playing against second units?
09-21-2017 , 04:41 AM
The research shows it was greatly overestimated how much it mattered a few years ago iirc. Maybe recent stuff that's more rpm oriented would say otherwise though. For Harden specifically he closed games in OKC so I doubt it had much effect outside of more time without either KD or Russ also on the court.

I'd guess for guys that are consistent 6th to 9th men it's vastly overrated. For someone like Boban who crushed very situationally in SA and then put up good numbers when he played last year with limited minutes I think it would matter. It's gonna be interesting to see Boban get an everyday rotation spot this year. Im curious how well he'll rate out in plus minus stats.
09-21-2017 , 12:28 PM
yeah i seem to recall research saying it was greatly overstated. even when we think about starters they spend tons of time against non starting units. even in the playoffs when teams ride their best lineups said lineups are still prob not on the floor for most of the game

edit: curry played~2600 min in last year's regular season and ~775 were with the dubs' preferred lineups (zaza starting or death lineup)

http://www.nba.com/article/2017/09/2...rants-or-techs

"NBA referees will be able to call flagrant or technical fouls on defenders who dangerously close on jump shooters without allowing them space to land, as Zaza Pachulia did on the play that injured Spurs star Kawhi Leonard in last season’s playoffs.

Officials will also make sure jump shooters are in their upward shooting motion when determining if a perimeter foul is worthy of free throws, which could cut down on James Harden‘s attempts after he swings his arms into contact."

Nice that's nice.

NURK reportedly lost about 35lbs in the off-season and showed up in ridiculous shape. I just wanted to be the first with a "X got in insane shape for this season."

Musclewatch 2017... and 2016

He got fat after checking out, I don't think he'll be as likely to check out this year though.
