the cap is $99M

That hurts.

Bucks now, assuming plan is to retain Snell, really need Hawes to opt out to stay under lux line. I guess they can stretch him.

People are predicting Snell gets like 10-12m/year. I am guessing 13-15m, but who knows. I hope the Bucks keep him.

Snell should easily get 14 MM or more

The NBA notified teams in a memo on Wednesday that the projected salary cap will come in at $99 million, about $2 million less than estimates in April.

In addition, the luxury tax has been lowered from $121 million to a projection of $119 million.
The playoffs sucked.

Like 14 months ago the projection was for 108M.

Porzingas too valuable to trade for just a top 5 pick. Or are you saying top 5 pick plus alot more? He already was a top 5 pick and he exceeded expectations with flying colors. A one player for one player only guy i might considered trading him for would be Ben Simmons because he could be a legend. Not Embid only because you have to worry he will get injured again. And it close who will be better long run if Embid stays healthy.

Wtf is Phil doing? The only thing he did right since being with the knicks is pick Porzingas now he trying to chase him out of town.

I assume he is looking for the personnel that will allow the Knicks to go full ****** triangle next season. Does Jackson think Porzingas isn't a good fit?

With latest cap adjustment, C's would now have to trade Rozier, D. Jackson, and not bring in Zizic or Yabusele to get to max $ for GH or BG

Seems like the smaller cap hold from moving down could have been some motivation too imo

Also, it seems like this is helping the Warriors:

Quote:
KD has two options:
- Sign for 120% of his previous salary using Early Bird exception, or $31.8 million. This means the Warriors do not have to clear cap room in order to sign him.

- Sign for his max, which is 35% of the salary cap. You know how a year ago the NBA projected the salary cap to be $108 million? This meant KD's projected max was $37.8 million back then. Now that we know the cap is only $99 million, his max is only going to be $34.7 million. If he did this the Warriors would have to clear $34.7 million in cap space (e.g. renounce Iguodala and Livingston).

KD has already said he's going to take the early bird exception to help the Warriors re-sign Iguodala and Livingston. It's a bit easier to do so when you are only sacrificing $2.9 million instead of $6 million which it would have been if the salary cap was $108 million.

One of the biggest lols in this disaster of a clip is that Phil can't even get Porzingis on the phone and they're only texting.

Anyone who thinks the NBA is rigged should take a quick look at the New York Knicks.

I'm ready for some WojBombs, let's go.

Now we got the spurs looking to move LMA. So Staps,LMA,Butler, and George on the block. Going to be some HUGE moves incoming.

Wish the pistons had the ammo to get Staps.

Must be rough to hear rumors about you going to the Kings. Then if you actually get traded there you have to pretend to be excited about it.

If they both stay healthy long-run I don't think it's that close (which is admittedly a big "if"). Also think you're way overrating Simmons upside.

Top 10 percentile career for Porzingis he is a perennial top 10-12 player in the league, maybe cracks top 5 one year but never a serious MVP candidate.

Top 10 percentile career for Embiid is a perennial MVP candidate.
06-22-2017 , 07:15 AM
Even in the top 10% of Embiid career outcome, there's still "will never be healthy"
06-22-2017 , 07:56 AM
There might not be 1 outcome in 1000 where Embiid enjoys a normal healthy career. His body simply cannot sustain an NBA career.

He'd have to play like 10-15mpg to have any chance of making it to the end of the season.
06-22-2017 , 08:35 AM
I could totally see a deal around Staps for Booker and #4 and I'm really high on Booker but hate it Staps is going to be super great
06-22-2017 , 08:43 AM
There's a 0% chance that Phil will build around Staps correctly so I'm not that opposed to trading him for multiple picks/assets in hopes that the next GM will know what to do with them.

Phil is getting paid 12 million a year for this nonsense. What a life.

so how did the hornets get dwight howard for just as much dead money and move up in the draft? may not be great but still seems to have at least some use

look up zydrunas ilgauskas injury history and subsequent healthy career, that should put embiid at higher than hyperbolic frosty take of 1 in 1000
06-22-2017 , 11:05 AM
I wanna see spurs trade LMA for a pick just to see who they take

Ilgauskas was insanely slow and immobile though. Embiid is a sick athlete. I don't think you can compare given the nature of the type of minutes Embiid will be putting in.

Oden is a better comparison.

Phil is getting paid 12m/y ??? What's the typical annual salary for his position?

I guess maybe because it's a different way to allocate the dead $? Seems pretty silly to me, though.

2017
Howard $23.5m
Miles + Marco $18.6m

2018
Howard $23.8m
Miles $12.5m

2019
Miles $12.5m

So if the Hawks want to be players in 2018 free agency I guess this helps, especially if no one wants to play with Howard anymore?
