or maybe Dan Gilbert is not a rational person and his weird idiosyncrasies are more important to him than pleasing Lebron, particularly right now
06-20-2017 , 09:26 AM
It's not just statements from the Cavs, the media/chatter was all over how much Blatt and Lebron butted heads and how it was never going to work with them. It's the opposite this time. Plus Blatt was publicly undermined by Lebron multiple times, whereas Bron was advocating for a griffin extension in April. And Gilbert's GM history supports the current theory
06-20-2017 , 09:31 AM
James fired Griffin because he didn't wanted to bring in the banana boat, especially Melo no ?

Griffin is a good GM. A good GM would never approach Melol
06-20-2017 , 09:44 AM
Unless Melo willingly accepted a role in the sidecar, which isn't in his nature, I'm dubious about whether he would significantly improve any of the teams in last year's playoffs.

His combination of ball dominance, inefficiency, and indifferent defense is pretty toxic.

It's difficult to say who makes more sense:

Mullen or Wooderson/Rococo/timhardaway.

On one hand you have cogent arguments and on the other TeamLolBron lolBron'ing.

Going to need to think about this one some more.

It's quite possible Gilbert wants LBJ to leave. He may be concerned about their exploding payroll/luxury tax for a team that is a massive underdog to title again. If he thinks they are going to lose tons of money in the next few years, perhaps he thinks it's better to start a rebuild. There have already been stories about the Cavs losing $40+ million a year and Gilbert and LBJ clashing over adding additional payroll. It seems amazing shortsighted, but Gilbert doesn't seem like a long term thinker.

Congrats on the hot take of the day

If you read my posts, you know that I am far from a member of the LOLBron team.

I think that teams almost always run personnel moves and coaching changes by superstars. I'm sure that Curry was consulted about whether to cut ties with Klay a few years ago or whether to chase Durant. I'm sure that he was "consulted" about the firing of Mark Jackson, although I don't think his opinion carried the day, thank God.

And like I said, LeBron may not care one way or the other about Griffin so long as he has input into personnel moves.

Yeah, team's value went from 515M to 1200M in 3 years; losing 40M a year is what, a drop in the bucket. I can't believe Gilbert would be so stupid. Lebron leaves, team is worth probably half of what it was. He learned this before in 2010, where his team dropped 25% basically in a 30 minute special. The team has mortgaged their future for a chance to win now; seems really stupid to piss Bron off because of 40M a year.
06-20-2017 , 10:03 AM
oh man I just read the part about the cavs losing 40mil. just lol if you believe that.
06-20-2017 , 10:06 AM
Bros just concentrate on what is impacting whatever happens on the basketball court. Wasting your time way arguing about whether or not lebron was behind the decision to suit your hot take when we'll never know is not a good look

If the value of the Cavs really would drop by $400 million overnight if LBJ left, that highlights the huge inefficiency in the valuation of sports franchises (which may well be the case). Because, to state the obvious, there is no universe in which LBJ plays with the Cavs for the next twenty years.

Pau turned down the €16M he was going to make next year, probably gonna restructure it to get more cap space

I agree it would be incredibly stupid, but why else would Gilbert be willing to piss off LBJ (assuming we believe what LBJ's camp is saying).

I know this is a minor move, but it's a stark contrast from the relationships we are seeing between Cleveland and their players.

Staps and Jokic BFF Euro lovefest would be the best thing for the NBA.

Once again, why did we win all those games this year?

Probably would have to do something with having Jokic in the first place.

Lebromqueen makes Donald Trump look humble and we'll adjusted.

Ya guys, I'm SURE he wasnt behind this decision because lebrom only does things that are GOOD and JUST
06-20-2017 , 11:27 AM
Oh he's gonna bring in another old bball player to GM? lollllll you can't make this up
06-20-2017 , 11:28 AM
Pau restructure was a big hurdle for opening potential CP3 room.
