Teams figured out that you can try to get teams not to match RFAs with poison pills is good when you do it like the Nets doing that weird frontloading thing with Porter, but the Knicks realized an even MORE poison bill is just like, twice as much as the player is worth. Checkmate, Atlanta.

Wait that contract must of been a offer to Hardaway SR in his prime not JR. Check the date on that.

I still dont see how Mitchell isnt going to be at least a pretty good player. He can shoot the ball and hes playing good D with that nice wing span. Good wing spans, big hands, with shooting ability=balling.
Yeah I wanted the Knicks to draft Mitchell if they traded down.

At least Dolan corrected his mistake of trading Tim Hardaway Jr in the first place. LOL

I wonder what the odds are of ATL matching? I guess the same odds of James Dolan being able to dunk.

I'm still laughing

hawks fan here, does matching THJ help or hurt if the Hawks wanted to tank?

assuming they are below the cap floor right now

not sure what i'm supposed to be rooting for
07-06-2017 , 11:42 PM
the 4th year is a player option

you can't match that ****
07-06-2017 , 11:43 PM
what was the next best offer?
07-06-2017 , 11:45 PM
KAZOOS

couldnt have been more than $12MM/yr

love that the knicks gave him away for the 1st rounder, drafted jerian grant, then proceeded to spend $71MM to get him back. LOL

15% trade kicker too just to make the contract even more untradeable

Hawks aren't saving the Knicks on this one.

I wonder if Porzingis will take his qualifying offer in 19-20 and then walk.

He reportedly really likes being in NYC and not locking in all those millions would be a significant risk.
07-06-2017 , 11:46 PM
knicks are a historically LOL franchise

so amazing

The contract is bad for tanking. When you tank you want to use your cap space to absorb the bad contracts from contenders and get paid assets for doing this.

The contract is bad for not tanking. When you are not tanking you want to pay a lot of money for good players and get unproven players for cheap.

This is a test for your new GM. You are rooting for no match.

Maybe the silver lining is that the Knicks won't bring back DRose?

New York will need to renounce the $29.7M FA cap hold of Derrick Rose to sign Tim Hardaway Jr. with room.
07-06-2017 , 11:49 PM
hawks should try and absorb rose for some picks (edit, oops he's UFA nevermind)

looks like Hawks are ~9MM below the cap floor

Man, i wonder how Tim Hardaway Sr feels knowing that as a 5-time all star he made about half as much in his entire career as his meh son will with this one knicktract.
07-06-2017 , 11:55 PM
ya i wonder
07-06-2017 , 11:58 PM
so he only costs 50% more than Patty Mills. Value!

Tim Sr. probably mad enough to throw a tv onto the court.

I'm sure it makes some good dinner table jokes

Maybe PHIL was a better option?
