Told you guys, Lindsay is low-key bad. He could have had Gordon for two more years at the same money but made him get his own offer. They've traded their lottery pick in last year and now the year before that to chase their tail and make up for the mistakes they made long ago.

A lottery pick to get Lyles, who they shipped to move up and take a Mitchell
A lottery pick to get Hill who's now gone
A protected first round pick for Rubio

They had assets, but a mistake early on forced them to burn straight through them for a team who's going to be good enough to playoff and ship off their pick.

look at the contracts signed/assets moved. how were the spurs going to get any of those guys?

edit: although actually it looks like they have more $ open than i thought. forgot pau opted out. maybe they could have gotten hill? lowry/paul too costly though

Rubio-Hood-Ingles-Favors-Gobert

still seems good for 45-48 wins (healthy)

Sad to say but jazz should blow it up, they not getting a good free agent ever since it's Utah, have to build through the draft.
07-04-2017 , 02:54 PM
It feels like maybe someone on Hayward's side leaked it before Hayward could tell the Jazz personally that he was leaving.
07-04-2017 , 02:55 PM
Nah I think the Jazz can win 50 easily, and they still have cap room. The biggest question I have is how/if Rubio is going to neuter Gobert's excellent offensive skillset. Yes he's a great passer, but I don't think his game meshes with an elite garbage-man at all.

The Northwest is wide ass open imo, every team is going to be around 50 wins.

If the Jazz shop Gobert and the Celtics are interested, do the Jazz take the second best offer out of spite? Would Jazz fans be pissed about a fair trade with Boston?

Jazz will have the worst offense in the NBA now. Hayward is really good.

I envision some team like Toronto at the deadline if Ibaka got hurt. I could come up with a few different similar situations. Maybe Dallas is shaping up to be a 7th seed and wants him, etc.

I'm not saying they were right but what their mindset would be if they were being logical. OTOH Vivek might really love him some ZBo or Vlade wanted some kind of post presence or something.

the celtics cannot sign hayward outright, correct?
07-04-2017 , 03:00 PM
Assuming Hayward gone, I'm definitely game to take some Utah not in the top 4 of West bets.

Not without doing a bunch of stuff to free up cap space.

Rozier or Smart will have to be traded

I'll take jazz under 48

Dunno what vegas lines are or whatever but I don't think they'll be very good at all

Jazz offense will be terrible. Hill also very good offensively.

Defense should be #1/2 tho.

Problem will be underperforming pythag due to absence of late-game creation.

Most recent quote from Haywards agent makes me think jazz have a legit shot and some deandre Jordan stuff is going on. Popcorn.gif

Lots of SF/PF type Celtics, wonder if Jaylen being featured so hard in summer league in an attempt to drum up more business.
07-04-2017 , 03:03 PM
Does Lindsey have enough time to throw a max at Otto Porter or did he already signed an offer ?

Thinking about it some more I think 45 might be the top end expectation. West a lot stronger, and pythag underperformance seems likely.

Maybe if they get Rudy Gay to replace Hayward that are an over 500 team, without a somewhat okay-decent replacement they are under 500 imo, doubt they win 40 games if they stand pat as is. They should waive Rubio as well, they only got him for Hayward, he should then retire for how big a disappointment he is as a bball player.

I think either A) just somebody being a dumbass and really nothing is finalized

or more likely, B) decision has been made with Celtics just released in a way that wasn't supposed to happen
07-04-2017 , 03:04 PM
I really like Terry Rozier fwiw, sign me up if I'm Indy.
07-04-2017 , 03:05 PM
Hayward going to Celtics will make them have to renounce the QO to Olynyk so he'd be another interesting UFA on the market.
