About half his new salary is offset - it (new salary - minimum contract) / 2. Given Melo could likely still get a $10M a year contract, he'd be giving up at least $5M to sign with the Cavs. Might still be worth it to ring chase, but it's a decent price to pay.

I think Pacers would take that, as who knows what happens to Toronto.

Problem with this type of deal is that is only makes sense for teams that are all-in short term - which only fits for Cleveland since they need to do everything to convince James to stay. For team like Toronto, adding PG doesn't really move needle at all - just gets you to second best in the East, and that is not worth the huge downside risk.

hmmm, they're already a clear 2nd best in the East and adding PG would definitely close the gap on the Cavs+ his prime fits in well with the rest of the team's age (Raptors have about 3-4 more years left in their window). A PG13,DD, KL, Ibaka lineup is one that would matchup really well with all teams. They could probably convince PG13 to re-sign, just would be really deep into the tax with DD/Ibaka/Lowry/PG13 making a combined 110MM.
If they can still keep some of their bench assets (Powell, Poeltl) then they may not need the 1st round picks in the future as they won't have room/ playing time for them anyway. They would probably be awful and have to blow it up in 2021/2022 and tank for a few years- Pacers would get something good eventually in the trade.

What's the stripper scene like in Toronto? Seems critical for PG13 recruitment. Lakers still #1 on the list due to LA lifestyle. Toronto equity sub 1%.

I would wager that Toronto better than LA when it comes to strippers.

Definitely true but Canada a nonstarter

stripper scene in TO is top notch currently, but recent sanctions against Russia are impacting the clubs' abilities to import new talent.

Also, PG13 and Derozan are apparently pretty good friends from Team USA so he would want to stay.

per espn:

"Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant will decline his player option for the 2017-18 season and technically become an unrestricted free agent on July 1, but he will re-sign with the team, league sources tell ESPN.

The 2017 NBA Finals MVP will turn down a player-option salary of approximately $28 million to momentarily hit free agency with the intentions of taking less than the max he's eligible for as a 10-year veteran. This is in order to improve the Warriors' chances of re-signing reserve stud Andre Iguodala, league sources told ESPN."

Reserve stud. This can't be real.

Is there any team that should consider offering Iguodala enough money to tempt him to leave Golden State? The non-Woj Vertical guy says he might get $20 million/year. Zach Lowe says to watch the T-Wolves?

Cavs trying to trade for Butler now per Stein

Lol stud

Jimmy by his stats is not an elite defensive wing. Seems like another scorer; Cavs really need a true defensive wing. Maybe they need Tony Allen or RoCO.

Jimmy + Cleveland >>> PG13 + Cleveland.

DO IT

I like it too. Indy will have to take whatever the Lakers want to give them for PG. World class job by Bird.
06-19-2017 , 06:46 PM
JB+Cle > PG+Cle is probably right for one year, but I see no reason why George wouldn't continue on to the Lakers in 2018, so, given he doesn't put you over the hump against GS, what is the point for Cle even if you have the opposite opinion? At least with Butler you can "improve" and have the chance to keep improving.

sry - the Lakers only give Indy something for PG in the rancid imagination of Steven A Smith - ie, never irl. It is in PG's interest that the Lakers should not give stuff to Indy for him.

More talking about salary dump like Deng or Moz
