In before Rondo demands a black coach.

welp, without kg and/or pierce this deal changes very little. but at least cp3 has a black coach now.

Disagree, DOC's VOVDN is absolutely huge
06-23-2013 , 06:22 PM
Yeah and obv doc being there increases their pp/kg equity as well
06-23-2013 , 06:25 PM
they'll be a good reg sea team again and flame out in the second round.

coaching wasn't the reason they got swept by sas and ko'd in the first round by memphis.

Raptors a LOCK for the playoffs if KG goes to LAC
06-23-2013 , 06:25 PM
Well, if neither PP nor KG goes to LAC we will finally have conclusive evidence of whether coaching matters.

You don't think lack of running anything resembling an offense and playing a 11 man rotation in the playoffs had anything to do with lack of success at the later stages of the season?
06-23-2013 , 06:30 PM
so cp3 isn't at fault for dominating the ball? i mean everyone has said itt for two years now that hes the defacto coach.

i thought it was more of a roster issue, which is why i think kg/pp really need to find their way to la for things to drastically improve. im not saying doc isn't >>> vdn. thats obvious.

How do they have any PP/KG equity? Stern has already said he'd veto a DAJ/KG trade. Maybe if the Celtics cut PP but I suspect they can get somebody to take his salary off their hands.

I don't think Doc being on LAC will change much of their offense. CP3 will still be the "coach" of the offense.

His major contributions will presumably come from two sources:

1. Better personnel rotations
2. Better motivation-->better defensive energy and alignment.

After a certain amt of time elpases im sure it will be acceptable
06-23-2013 , 06:45 PM
you sure, dean?...

@ESPNSteinLine 2m
ESPN source says NBA does NOT intend to budge from Stern's stance & would see subsequent KG-to-Clips deal as connected & thus in violation

thats obv not concrete, but for now its not looking good.

As long as Scott Brooks is running Kendrick Perkins out there it is confirmed coaching matters.

Stern wants the smoke screen that Doc isn't part of this same transaction, so now the teams are doing their best to do that. Clips give an interview to one of CP3s friends as a favor, Doc pretends he's no longer interested in the deal. Then magically a phone call is placed and the Doc only deal is on. Then on June 30 PP will get bought out so he can join Doc, and at some point in the next few weeks KG for DAJ will happen.

That way they Boston/LAC/NBA can all act like it's not the same transaction. This whole thing is so dumb because you should be able to trade anyone within the organization for whatever you want.

They aren't budging at this moment, but in a month or two they will. It's all just an act.
06-23-2013 , 06:59 PM
If the NBA really didn't care why would they threaten to veto anything in the first place? Your theory is that Stern is creating a smoke screen against himself.
06-23-2013 , 07:02 PM
From the leagues perspective, why does it even matter if its the same transaction or not? Why does it make sense to intervene anyway unless the deals are really unfair?
06-23-2013 , 07:06 PM
lol @ the conspiracy theorists

if someone makes an offer for kg/pierce that blows the clips offer out of the water, there's not a thing the league or clippers can do about it
06-23-2013 , 07:07 PM
Yeah, its a stupid distinction.
06-23-2013 , 07:07 PM
Exactly. Doc for a 1st is seen as reasonable, and in a month or two KG for DAJ will be seen as reasonable (assuming celts want to do it at that point). There will prob be some news about KG possibly waiving NTC to some other contenders to make it look like it was not one big transaction. The PP July 1 deadline will be interesting though.

KG can exercise his no trade clause.
