I don't know.. I'd really have to consider trading him for SGA + ~#5 pick, for these reasons.
1. SGA is playing like a top 5~ player AORN. You get the known All-NBA prospect over the "mystery box" factor of "how good" will Wembanyama really be?
2. Factoring in the chances that Wembanyama's career gets railroaded by injuries as he's likely a legit 7'5'' when he's done growing. A major cautionary tale is Ralph Sampson, who had guard skills himself and had his career go by the way side with a litany of injury issues.
3. This draft is deep, so getting the #5 pick would allow taking another pretty good prospect. OR you could take the #5 pick + salary filler for a great fitting veteran who's pretty damn good.
4. ?????
5. Profit Pacers Championships Dynasty!
Couple problems.
1) Value: most people agree Wemby is worth basically 20 FRP. So a team like OKC, that actually has nearly that many, is going to have to part with more than just SGA+1 to get him. SGA is great, but Wemby's upside is so high that the price would be significantly higher
2) Fit: SGA is a 2, so he's taking Mathurin's spot. Thats fine since he's better, but it kills any trajectory Ben would've otherwise had since neither is super likely to thrive at the 3. Meanwhile Wemby fits fine at the 4.
Reisgn Myles (or get a big bodied Steven Adams type at the 5) and you're just a 3&D wing away from trouble.
The Pacers' backcourt is set right now. Long term starters Hali/Ben, long term bench Comfortably Nemb/Duarte. We need wings much more than an upgrade at the 2, even if SGA is the man.
