As I type this, i think most would agree Celts have most title equity over the next 5 years. Very good team but they couldn't break 100 the last 3 games of the finals last year, Smart/Brog are injury prone, Horford is old, Tatum/Brown will be making about 115M combined in 2 years.
Feels like it is going more towards a hockey/baseball type structure in terms of title probability, obviously itll never be as far in that direction as those sports but i digress
I hope it was obvious I was referring to the Celtics as the best young core in the league. If they can hold onto those two for the majority of their primes they will have equity to win 2 titles over the next 5-6 years. They just have bad luck that they also have two monster MVP level players in their conference who play for reasonably smart organizations.
Injuries have become so critical in the NBA. It used to not even be a thing. Look at the games played by all the guys in the 80s and 90s, they just didn't miss games. And to Lloyd's point the I believe the amount of 3s being taken is giving the older players the ability to play longer because it creates value for them if they can still be effective beyond the arc. Also, I know the game is "faster" but anybody who plays ball knows they'd rather guard a guy who's looking to shoot a 3 than someone like Brunson who wants to body you up and drive to the hole. That **** takes a toll.
Enough rambling, I'm really looking forward to the kings and warriors game, and I guess this Knicks and cavs series is supposed to be interesting but it honestly seems like the Knicks match up really well with them.
