I posted a month or so ago that both Sloan & Stockton said the compressed schedule wound up killing the Jazz in '99, tho they did start 16-4.
Speaking of which, someone supposedly with the Jazz was in my buddy's restaurant last night. Black guy, pretty big, early-mid 40s, with some hot blonde, I just saw him briefly when I went in to say hi.
My buddy talks to him later, says the guy said he was an asst coach, tho all I know about for Jazz asst's are Scott Layden & Hornacek, so maybe this is all BS tho buddy is German so maybe he misunderstood, buddy doesn't get his name.
Anyway, guy tells him he thinks they'll miss two seasons, says the owners are totally "dug in". Also said the staff is really bummed out as they want to get started on "building a new program".
FWIW, guy could've just been having fun with dumb whitey. Not sure if I posted a month or so ago that another friend of mine had lunch at a table by Jazz VP Randy Rigby, overheard him say "doesn't look good at all" when someone asked him a bout the lockout.
