It's really hard to describe how Nurk is--it's like when he's starting and things are going his way he can be really good and a team player, but when things don't go perfectly he completely checks out. I think being the guy in Portland will be good for him, but it stings a little that he stopped caring in Denver after Jokic became the man. What really stings is that Denvers FO and coaching staff went out of their way to placate him to the point where he was starting in front of Nikola, went out of their way to find him a good home, and then he still talks crap about his last two years being hell. In the process Denver looks like the team that messed up by trading him for nothing even though he was ripping apart the locker room, when they lost value trying to do right by him.
There is a part of me that I don't like that wants him to fail, but I try not to be that guy.
Nurk appears to be the only one that was unhappy, well Wilson but the reports were it was because he was coming off the bench and playing with Nurk rather than Jokic, and not the Nurk that you see playing for Portland.
That's why it annoyed me when people were like "well maybe he will succeed in Stott's offensive system or Portland's culture." I mean, it's not like Stotts has ever had a system that's been nearly as effective as Malone/Finch's this year, and Denver's locker room is by all accounts extremely tight... now
I wonder if there was some weird stuff going on between Jok/Nurk, because the day after Nurk's comments came out Jokic said something that could be interpreted as shade..
Yeah something happened between the 2, 20 years ago the Jokics slaughtered the Nurkics
BTW I think there's a big change in the league regarding the big men position, 5 years ago 3 big men could share major minutes, you could be 6th man and play 25/30 minutes. Now it's down to 1 playing 35 minutes and the other playing 10-15 minutes. Obviously when you are a little bit talented it's hard to accept that situation
I can understand being unhappy, but liking tweets calling your coach and front office imbeciles and then gaining a bunch of weight and doing your best jahlil oakafor impression is weak as hell. How did he expect to get minutes if he don't even try? Oh wait, he didn't because he wanted off the team because he couldn't stand not being the man. Then he goes to Portland and I have to hear people gush about how awesome he is, wait until he hits a stretch of adversity.
Westbrook got deterred at the rim a few times by Nurk, then he got scared and wouldn't enter the paint afterward (and shot like 2-17 or something after).
Nurk moves so well and looks like he has legit two-way potential. Maybe Denver kept the wrong Slav.
lebron goes out up 12 and atl immediately cuts it to 6. its amazing how pathetic the players are around him. kyrie would legit win 20 games if it weren't for him.
For people who catch up on this thread I highly suggest you watch the Cavs possession at 320 (ends in a Kyrie corner 3 to go up 69-52). Warriors/Spurs like in terms of ball-movement.
