Well, one writer did call him a goat. Just not the right kind. GOATs gonna GOAT.

I really wish I was old enough to have seen him play in his prime. Catching a random ESPN classic games just doesn't do it justice.

Re: NBA ECF: Heat vs Celtics

man reading this page of posts, NBA is/was amazing. idk that nba now has same feel to it wish I had been able to watch the 80s celtics lakers, costarring kaj, isiah etc. nba seems like its gotten a little soft compared to those days but I think it's more a product of the game than the player, just silly rules like talking trash and not being too expressive. just hope it doesn't become robo-ball bc of all the political correctedness frameworks being forced down by the top. role models and bla bla but I think part of being a role model is having heart and being able to be the little scrappy guy that never backs down no matter the odds.

idk the most memorable scenes of my childhood bball watching was pj brown and charlie ward fliparoo into melee smash bros brawl. and all chippering between lj zo and ewing. not saying I'm hoping there's a war, but I wish they'd rethink their rules policy once flopping becomes an issue (it will, we already see it gettin bad w/ harden wade and Manu tp etc). ppl like wade who was so incredibly loved up until last year get sort of entitlement complexes that I think has alot to do w/ the way the game is officiated more than their personality dictates.

Except for Manu, that dudes just Argentinian.

Magic was a ton of fun to watch back in the day but so was Larry Bird and Michael Jordan etc...

If you were a Bulls fan nothing beat MJ and if you were a Celts fan Larry was the best. I mean c'mon you're not going to convince a Celtics fan that there was a better player in the league during the 1980's than Larry Bird and they might even be right. At the same time all Laker fans would just laugh and say Magic was just as good and has two more championships to show for it etc etc.

The NBA is awesome! Let's hope for an epic back and forth game seven on Saturday with the best team coming out on top!

Prediction: KG clinches the game with a 19 foot straight away shot with less than 15 seconds left on the clock.

Spoiler:

Hey it's my post and I can hedge if I want to.

If X amount of people in the 60s and 70s train for the NBA with today's diet/training advances, and 9*X amount of people train today with today's diet/training advances, 90% of the of the top players will be from today's pool. Just because they are on average as athletic as today with today's training doesn't mean they would be as competitive, because there were a lot less people back then playing basketball.

Yeah, as dumb as the GWG stat is in hockey, it does at least serve to highlight that sometimes the game is won or lost in the first period, and not every high-leverage situation is in the last 30 seconds of the game, or the bottom of the ninth. In Game 6, the high leverage part of the game was the 3rd quarter, and LBJ scored 11, had 4 rebounds, and kept the Cs from getting back into it, so the game was over by the 4th. CLUTCH

My prediction is that whoever first leads by 10 points, loses the game.

If Ray Allen scores 15+ points, then the Celtics win.

If Lebra scores 45+, then the Heat win.

I think which ever team scores the most points either in regulation or overtime if needed will be the winning team.

Re: NBA ECF: Heat vs Celtics

The best part about MJ, Magic, Bird is that they all had different games/styles which fosters debate.

LBJ has a whole new style so he can get in that GOAT discussion while Kobe/Wade are Jordan clones and can never live up to that standard.

Re: NBA ECF: Heat vs Celtics

Kobe/Wade can't live up to the standard because they're not as productive as Jordan was or Labron is, not because their styles are similar. If Bron were putting up 30 PER seasons with a style that mirrors Jordan's, he'd definitely still be in the GOAT discussion. Possibly even more so actually, since Jordan's style lends to scoring more points at the end of games, and the pundits would be fawning over how clutch Bron is.

<--Huge Kobe fan

Kobe has modeled his style very closely after MJ's. Which casts into relief his insecurity and utter failure to reach the MJ standard he set for himself.
