"The Miami Heat are real winners. It doesn't matter if they win or lose. In my heart they win every single game," Meyer said. "In my heart, every year they get the championship."

Yeah me too.

From the moment they traded for Ray I knew that Ainge was gonna go hard for KG and couldn't stop following the rumors. When it finally went down I pretty much felt like this, which is why this was such an expert commercial.

It's not like this thread was started to be a C's parade, if you win go ahead and celebrate, but until then I think everyone is free to argue against the idea that the c's are some kind of superheros. Why does it add more value to come and post "I used to hate the c's, but now I think they have heart", instead of "I used to hate the c's, and still do (but beat okc if it comes to that)".

Fan of team: can happen at various points in one's life and develop in a myriad of ways. I myself grew up a Knick fan (although I lived in Jersey, the Nets were sololbad, but it's not like the Knicks were that good either), moved to LA, and "adopted" the Clippers (largely cause for season tickets, much cheaper than Lakers obvi). The hallmark trait, imo, of being a "fan of a team" is that once you become a fan, you stay with them through thick-and-thin.

Fan of player: I think the most common scenario is when a player you really like on your team gets traded/leaves as FA under non-douchey circumstances. Good examples for me are Eric Gordon or David Lee. I want these guys to do well and continue to have great careers. If I catch a Hornets/Woyas game, I'll root for them to win and play great. But the hallmark trait in this scenario is I want Gordon/Lee to do well wherever their careers take them. I don't suddenly invest in their entire new team's fortunes4lyfe, mainly b/c it requires too large an investment of time/caring about something. And I doubt most people would.

So I guess this is a long way of saying there is a difference between these 2 statements, imo:

1) I am a huge Heat fan.
2) I am a huge fan of Labron so I am rooting for the Heat to take it down.
Good post, but I'm wondering if there is another option, such as switching allegiance from one team to another when a specific era ends. Let's take my Pacers as an example. I've lived in Indianapolis for essentially my entire life. My favorite team ever is the early 2000s Pacers with Artest, Reggie, JO, Tinsley, Cap't Jack (who came on slightly later) et al. Then The Brawl happened and they blew it up. Would it be socially acceptable at that moment to start rooting for another team? It wouldn't have to be a jump on some bandwagon, let's just say I enjoyed watching a random early 2000s team that I had no geographical association with, like ... I dunno, pre-Dwight Orlando.

Would this have been OK? Would this be, like, betraying my city? If I were to associate myself as a Magic fan would people in my area be justified in giving me ****?

Sorry if this is dumb, but I've never really understood the culture of fandom in sports.

Fallen Hero has had an incredible case of sandy vagina for about a month now, and obv is a lot worse since OKC flipped the script and styled all over the unbeatables.

Take a vacation bro.

Yes I realize all of this is true.

But it's not even like you're here to support the Heat, just hate on the C's. Just because you have haterade to distribute doesn't mean that anybody cares to drink it. And it's not like you need to be favor or even be neutral toward the C's to add value to the thread, but when pretty much everything you have to say comes from a place of Celtic hatred, it becomes stale in a hurry.

If you have fun just saying what you want to say even if nobody cares for it at all, then by all means disregard the above and do as you feel. But if you want to be taken seriously some basic level of objectivity always helps.

I think you're normally a pretty decent poster but itt you have devolved into a bizarro epipen imo.

that's the Heat's reason for existence tho

FWIW I don't think somebody like wutangpoker who has nothing to offer other than complaints about labron getting favorable whistles has delivered a stronger performance itt than FH.

Thanks guys, I've got hearts all I can say. Guess I'm just sorry I only heard of this game called peach basketball and the Miami heat in 2011 when vic and the council of elders at tz opened my eyes to it. I will never watch a professional bowling tour game again!

And come on, you cannot bitch abt people hating on the c's after all the hate u ppl dish on the heat. If u can dish it you can take it, stop being a whiny ass bitch and let's play ball.

Except I started posting in tz w/ regularity 4 months before the decision when it looked like resigning wade+STAT or JJ would be an optimistic scenario. Good work tho!

Too bad the Villanueva comments were shown to be false. Regardless, why do you care? A grown man that talks **** while playing basketball? Who'd a thunk it? Every player talks **** they just choose to point it out when KG does it cause he's overt about it and doesn't give a ****.

Interesting, last I checked the Heat were down 3-2 including two very close losses. How did that "Hallway Series" work out for you in 2006? Oh that's right it never happened, but you guys sure spent a lot of time discussing it beforehand.

Last edited by tuq; 06-07-2012 at 04:14 PM. Reason: technically they are down 2-3.

90% of my contribution to the thread has been arguing that the league is not out to **** the Celtics, that's not actually hating on the celtics, or even celtics homers (clearly the regular TZ celtic homers like yourself and kc aren't the ones promoting "I'll never watch the nba again because it's rigged for the Heat") and is pretty much the definition of using some basic level of objectivity.
In game posting is usually just a blob of "rondo is a bitch" or something similar, but come on, that's why in game posting got moved to it's own thread in the last couple of years, it's not supposed to generate thought provoking discussions.

I mean it's fine if you disagree but suffice it to say that there's a point in which you become so accustomed to the contrarian perspective that objectivity is abandoned imo.

what percentage of this thread do you think belongs to celtics fans and heat haters? It's very easy to constantly have a contrarian point of view in this thread and remain objective

like i said it's fine if you disagree, don't really care to get in a longwinded back + forth. my read is that you have had a bit of a sandy vag toward the c's instead of trying to engage in an honest intellectual discussions. there are quite a few factors that went into this read, and you won't sway me by belaboring any individual points. if i haven't swayed you, any further discussion of the matter is very unlikely to be fruitful.
