Re: NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs: Cavaliers vs Celtics

Anyone catch Paul Pierces comment to an interview question going into halftime?

"I'm just giving what the offense takes me."

I am changing this to I would be shocked if he does not have a monster night tomorrow. Every single person with a column or blog has written about this, and I just don't see how someone as competitive as him will let it slide.

Was this the first time you watched Lebron James play? He was at his most passive, most disinterested. He wasn't attacking the basket at all. I didn't think his defense was anything special. If you were to throw a game, I think taking a bunch of jump shots that you could miss is a pretty good way to do it. Its much harder to attack the basket and miss a dunk or keep missing free throws. So yes, if Lebron was throwing the game this is probably the easiest way for him to do so.

So he didn't throw the game, he just gave it 25%. And why did he give it 25%?

A. Was tired from playing Nintendo all day.
B. Had a fight with his Mother before the game about her new boyfriend
C. Forgot it was the biggest game of his career
D. Realizes that he can't win a championship and leave Cleveland without hurting the Lebron James brand.

talking about the elbow is lame, but since we're in the topic of stupid hipotheticals: maybe he didn't drive to the basket every possession because he didn't feel physically capable of it, butnah, that's far fetched, he just didn't give a **** because, let's face it, no one cares about winning titles

re: lebron, its also pretty ****ing hard to score when the other team can basically put three guys on you at the 3 point line because the entire rest of your team is so ****ing worthless

i mean seriously people, when he's getting west and jamison and williams wide open threes and they are missing all of them its impossible for him or any other player on the planet ****ing earth to score against the resulting defense. im sure he'll find a way to score 50 points next game just cause hes such a freak and he'll shoot from back bay if he has to, but its just absurd to pin the last game entirely on him.

I was out of town for a couple of days w/out internets, so I just checked the box score and read the recap of the game.

lol cavs fans for booing lebron. just roflmalewjlrekw. really do not deserve him at all. looking forward to victors take, but really I can't think of any reason to boo your home town MVP, regardless of how ****ty he played. i guess these fans don't realize that they're a max 30 win team w/out him. really stupid and sad, and I now hope he leaves

Betting big on Boston in Game 6. Not sure why so many sports fans are so fixated with the "It's due" theory. A team/player plays absolutely terrible and the answer is, "Oh, well they are going to play even better than normal next game to make up for it". I will be surprised if the game is in single digits.

Iggy would be proud. Labron and the Cavs deserved to be booed. Don't know the reason for it, but that performance was pathetic. Really don't remember anything like it ever.

Dude the series is 2-3. The Celtics have won exactly one game more than the Cavs, granted with the Cavs having an extra home game, and based on that you want to say the line is way off? "Its due" has nothing to do with it. Line is based on not ignoring a **** ton of data saying the Cavs are the better team. If you wanna bet on the Celtics based on your reading of Labron's demeanor that is fine, but don't act like there isn't a good reason for the line to be where it is. If anything, I would bet that the casual bettor is blindly mashing the Celtics the way you are based on all the articles saying Labron has quit on this season.

evan, notc, jc,

read some more articles. lebron is taking a ton of heat bc it looked like he was not giving 100%.

eta: and my "it worked" comment was saying that lebrons little plan of shifting the blame to his team, coach, front office, and fans.

you're so irrational it's incredible, no one ever blamed his teammates more than after last year's playoffs when he put up a GOAT performance and everyone else sucked beyond belief. When Lebron sucks guess who get's blamed. That would be the worst plan in history.

i would love to see the game. I can't imagine why he wouldn't be giving 100%. Either way, his teammates need to pick him up to some extent, a cavs team with no Lebron still shouldn't lose by 30+ at home to anyone

anyway, I won't judge till I see some video. I just think it's crazy for them to boo even if they think that he not only had a bad game, but also inexplicably decided to have a bad game on purpose. but I don't know what it's like to be a cleveland sports fan :O

They should've put a DNP next to his name in the box score to accurately reflect his performance.

+/- says he was the best starter on the team :/ I guess they lose by like 50 if he doesn't play?

I can totally forgive LeBron for having a less than perfect game. Boston does have a reputation for being very good defensively. The only thing that would frustrate me a bit as a Cleveland fan is the appearance that he wasn't giving 100%. Of course if he comes back in game six and puts up 35/10/8 and Cleveland finds a way to win then all will be right in the world. I guess we'll know tomorrow.

Also, most great players that win 'ships do so with other great players around them. LeBron just doesn't have that right now imo. Shaq is old, AV can be very good when healthy, Jamison far from great most of the time and the rest of the Cavs lol... As a result all of the pressure is on LeBron. That's a pretty big load to carry even for his broad shoulders.

That is why he was booed and is getting so much ****. His performance seems inexplicable. Btw you don't have a bad game on purpose, that is implying Labron was actively trying to lose which makes the argument kind of ridiculous. You just have to not try because you don't give a ****. Very simple explanation. Pretty easy to do. Millions of people do it all the time in their jobs across America.

Just no has every seen from the best athlete in his sport in his biggest game of the year. And when almost all the explanations for the lack of effort point to him being gone after this season, well that gives skittish CLE all the more reason to freak out. Best they can hope for is that he is having problems with Mike Brown and might stay if he is fired. Even then, can see why they would have problems rooting for the guy even if he stayed.

the problem with defering to lebron, is this is going to happen when hes off. like you could tell everyone was just sitting around and waiting for him to do something. Lebron played bad but other people could have easily stepped in and toke charge like shaq a veteran with rangzzzz

they already lost a game where he went 39/10/8 on 14/26 shooting vs the bulls lol

he's going to go off for something like 45/15/7 on 18/25 shooting, they'll still lose and Victor will still claim he's tanking
