any of those 3 in the celtics this year and they're very very close to the cavs, probably above them, even with the injuries (well, not CP3 since he was injured too, but you get my point)

ok so i know this isnt a true judge of who the best PG is, but in a game a) celts vs jazz b) celts vs suns c) celts vs hornets, what team has the PG edge in the matchup

what i mean by this, is that in any big game vs the celts, we are always going to have the PG edge, because none of those guys are ever going to be able to defend rondo, however, rondo is always going to be able to defend them and harrass the **** out of them.

If you think that substituting Chris Paul for Rondo into this year without adjusting anything else would make a large considerable change on the outcome of the season, I don't know what else to do besides agree to disagree.

Are you keeping in mind that Deron is the only one that can come close to guarding Rondo and that Rondo will out rebound all of them and guard them all well?

I like Rondo da alien head too but are u seriously saying that its debatable that rondo is better than Nash/Paul/Deron? and your basing it on teammates?

are you keeping in mind that it's rare for a single defender to shut down a top offensive player

I am absolutely saying that.

But I am not basing whether he is better on teammates, which is ridiculous. I am basing whether he is a better fit to a roster based on teammates, which is the only thing that makes sense to do.

Rondo is not even coming close to stopping any of those 3 guys, no one else in the nba can either

Rondo is good defender, but to say he can shut down any of the three is insane.

i dont think you are capable of rational thought if you are talking like that, saying "not even coming close" what, he can and will stop those players.

im almost tilted, w/e thats what i get for arguing with bustos on the internet

Wasn't trying to imply that Rondo would shut these guys down. Offense has such an advantage that even the best defenders won't shut these guys down. I only mean to say that Rondo will guard them better than they will guard him.

Salty, you said that Rondo has poor shooting but then say it doesn't matter because the Celtics won the Finals with him. Other than the final result, he was/is a poor shooter.

EDIT: That is why someone mentioned your logic was faulty

How is that faulty?
lol it's like the definition I think...

Basically, saying "having deshawn stevenson in your starting lineup isn't problematic because they won" when the rest of the team is LeBron, Prime Shaq, Bosh, and Chris Paul.

Sure, it didn't affect the outcome. But it could have made the games closer than having someone who was good in the lineup.

I'm not making an analogy or saying this is the exact situation. I'm saying you're acting like his shooting didn't impact the series. It didn't make-or-break the series, because the Celts were so much better. But in a closer matchup, they may have lost because of his shooting woes.

Get it?

Yes, he is a poor shooter. No arguing that.

The only reason this debate got started was that I said people are putting too much weight on his lack of shooting. When someone brought up the finals two years ago, I was just using that to add to what I was saying by stating that if you can win a championship with that poor shooting, it obviously isn't worthy of that much mention.

even with a decrease in their production because they're being well guarded they'll still be better offensive players than Rondo, and CP3 and Deron are not bad defenders at all, in different ways

Re: NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs: Cavaliers vs Celtics

OK, and too add on to that..

If he shot better today, right now, next game, they would win games easier, and not struggle like they have this season. Clearly there's no debate concerning his jumper, but, when you compare him to the top PGs in the league, this may be the only thing stopping him from breaking into that company.

I love to watch him play, and once he gets that shot going he'll be more unstoppable. Imagine if he had a J, teams couldn't double the post down low, and he would have a guy stuck to him cuz of it.

Re: NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs: Cavaliers vs Celtics

I am not sure why I get myself involved in these types of debates in which people twist and turn what is said in all different directions.

My only point here is that Rondo gets too much disrespect for lack of shooting, and not even respect for ability to rebound and ability to defend because rebounding and defense are more important than basketball than outside shooting.

you can win an NBA championship with me as your starting PG on offense, provided I have enough help from my teammates, that doesn't mean my shortcomings as an nba player aren't "that big of a problem"
