it's sorta hard to continue my sexton argument, tho i don't think NFL running backs was the best analogy.

i'm just saying if I was GM i would need to have a very specific need at PG to be looking at sexton with trae off the board. otherwise just get ayton/JJJ/bagley. no PG as a result? fine, suck one more year and get another sexton next year. if you have a really good scouting department, you could prioritize certain years based on certain talent pools. but there's always gonna be more point guards, cuz there's a lot more 6'3 dudes. talented wings and potential unicorns arent gonna come around as often.

shrug.

Plus you could probably find an undrafted, unathletic, 5'11 PG out of Wichita State or whatever that ends up being better than Sexton

It sounds like your argument is more like, the difference between the best PG and the 7th best PG is generally lower than the diff between the best 3s and 4s and the 7th best 3s and 4s... or less generally, the diff between Sexton and the 7th best

sorta. i'm just thinking of the kind of generational talents that will lead teams to championships and in modern NBA i think its more likely gonna be a point forward, elite wing, or a unicorn.

the only kind of point guards that make me intrigued these days are point forwards or ones that are shooting it like trae is right now. not many guys built like harden, either (6'5 with a 6'11 wingspan).

i do think theres a big difference between the best and the 7th best wing. but i think the best wing/point forward/unicorn is gonna have the best [title odds improvement] sweat.

i like the vanvleet reference tho

I dont think he has a high enough ceiling, but watching Bamba play for Texas is a delight. Smart has done wonders for him.

Podcast from a few days ago. Givony is pretty high on Bamba. He said he has 1.Doncic by far over everyone else. 2. Ayton 3.Bamba. He does say he could see teams taking alot of diff options at 8 depending on who they fall in love with later. Hes REALLY high on Doncic obv.

I watched the IU-MSU game tonight and JJJ had 6 blocks in the first half. He is 6'11 with a 7'4 wingspan - he switches ball screens and gobbles up guards regularly.

He shoots above 40% on 3s and abuses people in the post when teams switch on his screens. Not sp sure he shouldn't go #1 overall.

The guy with the high motor and 8 foot wingspan doesn't have a high enough ceiling?

Bamba for sure seems to be on the rise. Think hes passed up Bagley on most boards at this point. Hes automatically going to be at least a dominate defensive center piece for you in the middle. Givony had him at 3. The recent SI mock i just read has him at 3. Really safe pick and if he gets there on offense look out.

Insider article on potential draft sleepers from the late lottery on today pegged Lonnie Walker as a sleeper.

6'5/ 6'11 wingspan. Reminds me of Donovan Mitchell at Louisville.
