Marvin Williams averaged 11pts in college while Trae-Young probably had the best one & done college season of all time, they aren't comparable in the slightest. Trae-Young will light the league on fire. If somebody can find me a player who had an amazing offensive one & done college career who failed to be good in the nba then you can worry about Trae-Young, until then stop listening to Dean & his dumb hot takes.
Beasley
D'angelo Russell is quite mediocre
OJ mayo was just okay
honestly there isn't that many examples of guys who had stats even close to Trae after 1 year other than maybe Beasley and Durant. A lot of the UK one and done kids split shots and don't have the best ppg. Kyrie barely played at Duke. If we restrict to just 1 and done players there are a lot of mediocre kids that have been taken in the lottery.
Here's a list of all the 1 and done kids from the lottery.
those are freshman since 1992 season that scored more than 20 ppg. a few have sucked/mediocre in the pros (Wagner, Mayo, Hughes) and a few have been great--others have stayed for more than 1 season.

Russell didn't have anywhere near the year Trae had, Mayo was decent in the nba & would've been better if he didn't have personality & off court issues & Beasley is actually a great name for you to bring up. Beasley busting in the nba has to be an anomaly though, i don't think anybody would predict a bust from him & i still feel alot of it is character issues, he's a waste of talent if you ask me. You can probably throw Fultz in there as well but the jury is still out on that kid. Either way Trae has had one of the best college one & done seasons in terms of production ever & only beasley from the list you provided is comparable. Trae may have some bust potential like legit everybody in every draft has but if he wants it bad enough & with his skill level he can be really good so i'm rooting for the kid.
How did the Italian kid from Villanova go 17 was it? I thought people were wondering if he would get drafted or at very best very late. 17 is like close to elite. Seems like a reach to take so early.
Is he going to be good or is he the next Joe Alexander?
this is nowhere close to marvin>CP3. hawks at the time needed a PG. it was absurdly dumb.
i think hawks are gonna be exciting, dont get me wrong. i just think they have the kind of roster that could do okay in the regular season and then get massively exposed in the playoffs (aka almost every good hawks season ever).
trae is gonna get bumhunted on defense so badly. lloyd pierce needs to dedicate 100% of his time trying to turn trae into CP3 on defense.
Ayton played college in AZ so it was considered his hometown. SAC may have been afraid Doncic would have stayed in Europe or they were just doing SAC things. The stigma of the Euro is still alive.
NBA fan who pays zero attention to players before they're in the NBA
why do like 95% of people say Doncic is the best player in the draft and he ends up going 3rd?
They think he's too slow to be playing guard/forward in the nba & won't be able to defend anybody pretty much. What they fail to realize is that he's 6'7, 230lbs with the size of a s.f & skillset of a p.g. He's no Westbrook but he's not as bad an athlete as people are claiming, he stayed in front of Westbrook on a play at age 17 and beat Oladipo off the dribble in the same game. Doncic is a 6-7/10 athlete in terms of speed, quickness & hops for his size & around the same level of Hayward imo & that's pretty solid.
^^^ As you can see he's a decent but not great athlete, people are underestimating him though is all there's to it.
Apparently Brett Brown is gangsta as well. I like what they did, even though I'm not the biggest Zhaire fan... The fact that Denver's FO, Dean, and some other smart people were so high on him makes me want to defer judgement.
But the overall framework, getting a pick in the possible first year of high-schoolers being allowed, and from Phoenix who might still be lottery-bound by then, all that makes it seem like an excellent deal for Philly.

85% of the “ sharp” hoop posters on here loled Ainge over the KI IT trade lol
Kyrie was injured & out for the playoffs, has 1 year left & may leave to go to the Knicks next season & the Celtics lost the #8 pick & a productive player in Crowder for them. In no way has the Celtics won the trade, Ty Lue just sucks as a coach & couldn't make Crowder look decent & i'm not sure that i love the Sexton pick. If the Cavs drafted Knox, Mikal/Miles Bridges then i'd say they won the trade but they didn't so, oh well.
