Have a feeling Trae Young will be the most polarizing prospect of the lottery. People are either going to love him or want to pass on him imo.

His numbers are ridiculous though
https://www.sports-reference.com/cbb...e-young-1.html

Through a very small 6 game sample size he has a 38.6 PER(1st in the nation).

35.0 usage(6th in nation) with a 133.6 ortg.

He averages 14.5 3p attempts per 100 possessions and is hitting 42% of them (23/55).

He just pulls up and shoots from NBA 3 range at random multiple times per game.

At the very least, hes goingto be a fun guy to watch.

The pull up and shoot a 3 is really the game theory optimal college offense

I present you Bruno Fernando

6'10 19 year old freshman (from Angola via some US prep powerhouse highschools) that can jump out of the gym, actually has some decent moves and nice touch on his jumper/FTs. Currently averaging 10.8/5.6/2 blocks in 19.7 mins a game on 63% shooting while shooting 72% from the FT line

lol nbadraft.net and all but a decent writeup on him

Quote:
Bruno Fernando 6-10 245 PF/C Maryland Fr.

Bruno Fernando
Continuing with the trend of freshmen bigmen, Fernando has been an absolute revelation for Maryland. He's an explosive athlete who runs the floor like a deer and shows a natural willingness to play physical and seek contact for rebounds. He attacks the rim with reckless abandon, making recurrent assaults on the rim with vicious dunks. Fernando is originally from Angola, having come over to play prep ball at Monteverde and IMG Academy. He was a little overlooked in high school, being rated as a top 50-70 prospect by most recruiting services.

Fernando, who turned 19 in mid August is just scratching the surface of his abilities. He shows unusual hand eye coordination, and has excellent touch on his shot. He still needs time to learn how to get shots off within the flow of games, but his 68% ft shooting (19-28) through his first 8 games is an excellent sign. He's averaging 10.6 ppg and 5.1 rpg and does a good job of staying within his comfort zone offensively.

He makes a lot of ally oop dunks, but also shows some innate footwork in the post, using spin moves and finishing with touch. He has an effective hook shot that he converts with regularity. His 2.4 blocked shots in just 18.8 minutes per game is another positive sign. With a massive wingspan, he has the ability to be a difference maker on the defensive end if he continues to improve and become disciplined and can stay out of foul trouble.

We may be jumping the gun with him as a one-and-done late first rounder, but having seen his development from the 2014 U17 World Championships in Dubai, he's a kid with great potential, reminiscent of Clint Capela at the same age, who with the right development could become something special.

From what I've seen so far I'm taking Bagley number 1. I love his motor and athleticism. He came up a year early so hes 7 months younger then Ayton whos also looking damn good.

Doncic 3 for me. I just cant take the not that athletic Euro over either of these big time producing NCAA bigs. I know hes skilled and has a "high basketball IQ" which is why I'd still take him 3.

Give the Dwayne Wade/Draymond from this class that recruits the beta male super duper stars ala Labron and KD.

Mikal Bridges looks like the next Kawhi.

Should go top-3 imo.

Just looking at his measurements I would say he's not close. 3 inches shorter wingspan and 25 lbs lighter, also older.
Looking at his stars thus far I would say he could be a top 5 pick easily though. Kind of eye popping, although they have played a lot of cupcakes so far.

career high for Doncic yesterday in the Euroleague against Olympiakos (who are a proper good euro team and would destroy any college team)

it's looking harder to take anyone above doncic at this point imo, the best nba players are basically always the elite offensive guys and doncic is confirmed one of the best guard/wing prospects in years with the leap he's taken for real madrid. if ayton was showing ultraelite defensive potential on top of his great offensive game there would be a better debate, but these recent coverage highlighting some weaknesses take that shine off a little (although i still think ayton is a really top shelf nba prospect)

trying to think of comps for doncic, i can't come up with anyone who really rings true. the ability to bomb 3s off the dribble and pass really well as a lead guard is a pretty rare combo as it is. doncic's pnr game is also just super impressive, he just does all sorts of interesting moves, using different reversals / snakes / baits / fakes to get himself or teammates more open, as well at having good touch on floaters and shooting in general. i can't really recall a prospect who was as good at pnr as doncic is, it all points to ultraelite bbiq, and doncic has the size to make it super effective

the great thing about doncic being good at everything already, is that it'd be really weird if he just stopped developing new skills - the deanondraft post about him from a while ago is looking quite prescient

ayton's shooting is looking more and more legit as the season goes on, he's at 47% on midrange js so far and shows no hesitation, 72% on fts is pretty solid too, 3pt %s aren't there but the overall shooting profile looks quite solid. around the rim he's totally unstoppable (83%) and while that's a concern for some guys (like bagley imo), with ayton he's such a physical specimen that it's pretty likely he'll be a great finisher in the nba as well, whereas i can see bagley's effectiveness falling off a cliff vs people who are both stronger and longer

if his defensive inattentiveness turns out to be a legit concern, towns is probably not a bad comparison for ayton imo. he's a better athlete than towns, but it's probably not fair to assume he'll be quite as good as towns offensively (although he certainly has that potential)

Also Ayton went for 29 and 18 last night and looked amazing in doing so

Doncic killing it in the Classico right now, he's so solid, so great to watch

3 point from his own free throw line
double ankle breaker

He has everything

Seriously he'll be an all star his rookie year if he goes to the East

Watchout for highlights of his game

1.Doncic

I'll be instantly a fan of the team that will draft him
