Nonzero chance Morey reads your blog.

sort of - i think he can be better obviously but if he ends up being a valuable bomber who basically blows on d then nobody would be surprised. i like him so much because his upside seems better than that - mostly offensively

i'm experiencing cognitive dissonance re: his d because there's some contradictory info - he's seemingly pretty athletic, and arizona's d was still really good when he was on the floor, but getting zero stocks/boards and generally playing soft is a very bad look - and he's already going to be 20 so it's not like he has as strong of a 'needs to mature' excuse

either way, when i rank him third i'm pricing in some ok chance that he harnesses his decent mobility and turns into a passable nba defender and not some unplayable sieve. i wouldn't be surprised if i change my mind on him though

I'm biased as a South Carolina fan but I really think Thornwell can be a good role player in the NBA. He can shoot, defend, and handle the ball pretty well too. He's older as a senior but he's way more NBA ready than a lot of guys in the bottom half of the 1st round.

P.J. Dozier on the other hand I can't really see being a good pro. Although if he can somehow fix his shot then I guess it's possible.

Yeah, I noticed that. You were really high on Capela too. That list is pretty much all Cs and SGs, would make sense to take one of each I suppose.

If Rockets dont plan to resign Nene, Thomas Bryant makes a lot of sense for them imo.

edit: actually Nene shouldnt matter obviously, but they just have so much center depth with him. I still like Harrell a lot.

I think Nene knows that playing with the Rockets has given the last years of his career new life, I doubt he goes. Front office loves him too

Markkanen reminds me of TWolves Love with the way he can run off screens and shoot off the hop or 1-2. Super rare things for bigs to be able to do.

Vincent Collet, Frank coach and national team coach has been invited by the mavs for the Orlanfo summer league

Strong indication that he'll probably not fell after the 9th place

I'm going to watch him live tonight in playoffs against TP's team

why isn't Tatum > Jackson?
put up about the same stats, but in the ACC
about the same size, but has a better reach
is a much better FT shooter
and is 13 months younger

idk why tatum had such a lol style - surely someone could have told him that doing a harry barnes impression wasn't going to win him much love from modern nba scouts. it's even stupider because coach k had two older nba guard prospects already on his team who no doubt could orchestrate a decent offense

the fact that he ended up playing that way despite no real reason to means you have to assume that being a midrange iso guy is part of his package, that makes him a ****tier prospect obviously

it's annoying because he's got the potential to be a good enough shooter that he could be solid playing that way anyway, but his median outcome gets significantly dinged if he is just a baked in 90s wannabe to the core iyam

disclaimer i haven't really watched tatum much outside of highlights so maybe i'm overstating the extent to which his game fits my idea of it - doubt it since the first hit for "jayson tatum isos" on google is "DraftExpress - Jayson Tatum - Iso Machine"

if he's that dum then he must be a helluva athlete to put up ~Jackson numbers while being 13 months younger

that he can be coached up at the pro level is too big of a gamble to take?

This could just be a predraft smoke screen but rumors have it theirs a chance Ball falls to three if he doesnt look great in his lakers workout. Rumors saying hes considering working out for the 76ers as well. If he does work out for them you know him falling is real.

He isn't an exceptional athlete but he's very talented and skilled. He takes a lot of dumb shots and turned it over more than he assisted. He ranges from AIDS to phenomenal. Some nights he looked like Carmelo and some nights he looked like a dumb Evan Turner.

Some random NBA draft trade rumors...

1) Blazers almost definitely going to use at least 1 of their 3 first round picks to trade away some combo of Crabbe (3/$56m remaining)/Turner (3/$53m remaining)/Leonard (3/$32m remaining)/Harkless (3/$33m remaining). They're about $12m over the luxury tax line already.

Teams that are interested include the Knicks & Nets. Knicks have more buzz, but I'm guessing the Nets get more done because they have so much cap space & could really use some picks.

Seems like bad business to hand out obviously bad contracts, & then use 1st round picks to unload them, but who knows?

2) The Pistons are exploring options for trading 12 for a solid "win-now" contributor.

3) Lakers trying to unload Jordan Clarkson, could happen as early as draft night.

4) Mavericks trying to buy late round 1st(s). Going price is ~$3.50m apparently.

Phil Jackson is def going to trade for a Blazers pick and take a 4 year college guy.

I really hope the pistons dont trade that draft pick to chase a 8 seed.
