Pretty shocking Hinkie doesn't have a job right now when even the dumbest organizations can see how well his plan has worked out

I don't get the Josh Jackson love. What does he do well that translates in a league where his edge in athleticism is smaller? He's a scrawny wing with poor handle who can't shoot. He shot 57% from the ft line ffs.

Still taking him over Justin Jackson though. Justin is 2 years older and will be super exploitable in a league full of guys his size. He was "crafty" in college, in that he got buckets in unorthodox ways- floaters, tough angles, etc-. That just won't translate in the NBA. The only thing he has on Josh is being a better pure shooter.

That's not as far-fetched as I expected when I had gotten as far as "Here's my version of who teams SHOULD take right now "

I expect (one way or another) the Celts end up with Fultz and the Lakers Ball. Today I'm still as high as if I'd licked Clyde's purple suit on Lauri for #3, but mmmmmkay maybe Fox-Lauri is close. Obviously, the Mavs recruiting people read Dean-on-Draft, so they take Isaac over Smith ... and lolKangs don't read Dean so take Smith at #10.

Josh Jackson will never be a league average starter... So yeah seems like a safe bet.

I mean, all those not-Fultz-Ball guards could be nothing, could be something, afaics. It's just that they are all 20% more likely to be something than in a typical draft.

I mean yeah I take Josh over Justin because of upside but Justin ends up being a better player >50% of the time imo

He excels at all of the role player things. Defense, rebounding, passing, moving off ball. He can't shoot but has great touch on short attempts. And it sounds like he has awesome intangibles, so if he somehow learns to shoot he can be an awesome role player. Even if not perhaps he finds a way to thrive a la Marion.

That said you gotta be worried that he's just another MKG, Aaron Gordon, Justise Winslow, RHJ type who just can't put it together on offense. Although it is a bit early to give up on Gordon + Winslow, all of those guys were highly alluring as prospects and the early returns are not thrilling.

I am also skeptical which is why I like Lonzo more, but at the same time he is only 18 and it was a fairly WOATish situation. If Brad Stevens can turn Jordan Crawford into serviceable NBA PG and Isaiah Thomas into an all-star, he can probably do some pretty rad things with Fultz.

I really like the Terry comp. They even have awful rebounding in common.

I don't trust KU players. In the Self era, he's had a number of lottery picks and first round picks (McLemore, Embiid, Robinson, Wiggins, Oubre, Selby, etc.)--one has potential to overperform his draft slot (Embiid) and the rest have been quite poor in the NBA. Wiggins could be solid but that's not what you want from a 1st overall pick in a okay draft (actually might be bad--I guess Jokic >>> everyone else in that draft).

I guess the Morris twins are alright as well.

Monk getting bottled up and not being able to get anything remotely resembling a good look in the Tourney when he faced actual NBA size gave me all of the red flags

Fultz looks like he has the fatty gene and could balloon at any time. Ball is a lock hall of famer so ofcourse he will go to the Lakers.

Nice video breaking down Lonzo's shot. Now it makes sense why I thought his release looked weird.
