I don't see how Simmons could possibly play the 3 with his shot (or lack thereof).
They're almost certainly going to trade one of Okafor/Noel and Embiid will be on a minutes/games restriction.

It's crazier to draft fit over talent with the #1 pick. If you think Simmons is the most talented player in this draft, you take him.

Saric. That won't stop them from drafting Simmons though.

Agreed.

I think PHI does the least FPS thing and takes Ingram. Maybe they flip Covington for a first in the process, which I think he'd definitely yield.

Ingram is a reasonable pick. But I don't see him being a perennial all-star. But a +EV NBA 3.

If there was ever a draft where you want to trade for picks in the next draft...this is it...next year is absolutely ****ing loaded.

Sneaky! Convince Philly to take Simmons allowing Ingram to land in Lakers' lap.

seems like a poor decision for ivan rabb to go back to school then

i don't really know anything about next years draft - but the guy who dx has #1 has done his acl TWICE before he turned 18. wat. i watched some highlights and it seems like the standard collection of yamming it on 6'5 whites that you normally see out of hs bigs

Sixers are not in position to turn down/play for fit with their current roster. While the team lacks guards/shooters, the bigs they have aren't good enough to pass one a serious talent like Simmons. While I think there is a chance that Ingram could be better--I believe due to body type Ingram is a higher risk pick than Simmons. One of my friends works for the Sixers and has heard directly from the older Colangelo that he doesn't like Simmons very much but will see if the younger Colangelo cares.

Josh Jackson is gonna be the top pick next season when its all said and done. Kids a monster gonna be the next Tmac. Somehow hes only listed at 4 on the draftexpress mock right now. Guess that speaks how strong the class is.

Yeah Giles, Tatum and Jackson all look like sick sick prospects. Giles looks like Chris Webber but maybe a little bouncier - although it's completely fair to downgrade him from the #1 based on injury history. Tatum is a prototypical NBA 3. Jackson is awesome, although he's a full year older than Tatum and Giles (despite being in the same class). That might be the only reason to be a little wary of him.

Didnt know about the age thing. For sure a year age diff is quite a bit of diff. Still hes the most excited I've been about a wing player in awhile. I'm way more excited about J.Jackson then Wiggins. Cant wait to see him dominate college.

Speaking of age diff and nba prospects. Simmons has 14 months on Ingram. Thats gotta come into play as the scouts look at these guys. I seen a chart earlier today with all the top mocks on the internet and it has Simmons going 1 6-4 as of now. Gonna be a interesting battle for number one but i think Simmons will be the guy.

Yeah, Ingram was still 17 when he stepped on campus at duke, didn't turn 18 until he had a month or two of classes under his belt. He's crazy young.

Was reading a scouting report and it brought up that he was younger then 8 of the players in this years Mcdonalds game. Youngest college player in the draft.

What about Jakob Pöltl and his chances of playing in the NBA. He will be the first austrian ever. Wil he get some playing time next year? I looked at some mock drafts and he was falling to 9th or 10th mostly. Personally I would be a bit sad if he gets drafted by MIL or SAC. Would love to see him get drafted by CHI, because the last time I followed the NBA Jordan was still playing there xD.

Just don't see how anybody can legitimately say Ingram is going to be a huge bust? He could easily get injured and not pan out but that goes for all players.

josh jackson is the real deal. sucks that he is going to lol kansas. dont think harry giles and tatum are quite the prospect people making them out to be. they will be nba rotation players but i think both of them are quite drawing dead to becoming superstars

He's the one guy that i think is pretty much a lock to not suck. Seems almost certain that he'll be a pretty ok-ish player.

This sounds delightful! I just knew that he chose to not be drafted last year and instead wanted to improve another year. Idk how common this is in the NBA, but you never hear of something like this in hockey.

In most interviews in the austrian media he comes around as very level headed and he seems to know where he needs to improve.

Now I just can hope that he gets drafted by a team that is in a city worth visiting.

Bumpity...

Most teams are out and starting to their workouts and interviews, and a few players have shot up the draft boards. That's probably because this draft sucks... god I hate picking 7 because I see there being a pretty big drop after #6.

1) Simmons - Seems to have the most Boom but still a decent amount of bust. The hope is that part of his WIL comes from playing on a pathetic team, but you'd think he would have still tried to bring it more towards the end of the year. Still he's pretty toolsy with off-the-charts athleticism and great vision.

2) Ingram - I guess. I think he's the safer pick but I also have a hard time envisioning him being much more than a rich man's Trevor Ariza, which isn't all that bad.

3) Bender - long, seems athletic. I like his highlights but he played so little... but that shouldn't be a knock on him given the team he played for. He seems like a lock to be at least useful after a couple years. Some guys in the know think he will be plummeting on draft day, but I doubt he makes it past 7.

4) Dunn - Could end up being one of the best players in the draft, but his age and the sheer number of good point guards knocks him down to here.

5) Murray - I like him more than Ingram in that he has all of the skills, just lacks that crazy size and athleticism.. I keep thinking CJ Mac only with better shooting skills.

6) Hield - Part of me wants to put him higher even with his age. I'm not worried about his assist numbers or lack thereof, and am even less concerned with his defense given the load he had in college. It just seems like he's a lock to be a Reggie Miller/Ray Allen (older version)/Klay Thompson type with the right team.

That's pretty much when I stop liking players, and to be honest I like the players at 3-6 more than 1-3... then again I suck at this.

Poeltl beasted in college and is young, but his TRex standing reach bothers me.

Chriss has been shooting up the boards (#3 on DX), which I really don't understand given his inability to rebound and completely sucking on defense.. He didn't measure well and was a decent shooter by college standards, but I don't see how you think he's worse than Brown who is similarly lengthy but has the agility to guard smaller players... which brings me to

Jaylen Brown - A lot of teams have Denver taking him at 7, and I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't be disappointed if he went there. What exactly is his NBA skill? I know he's a ridiculous athlete and eccentric, but I have a hard time seeing how his game translates to the NBA... maybe he's this year's Stanley Johnson, cool hair and all.

Ellenson I like probably better than the few that go before him, but he looks too much like a dorky Chris Anderson to be good.

Who else is looking good iyo?

Nice post dood. I disagree personally on murray, don't like him. Like ellenson a lot, think he's too skilled and too big to not be good. Chrisss I like, bit he's probably the biggest project in the top 10, just ahead of brown, imo.

im just getting into my research this year but after looking at the top 3 guys im pleased to see that i agree with our boy dean on how sick bender could be. there's a chance he's too soft (read a pretty questionable quote about how ever since his brother tore up his knee he is very conscious of taking unnecessary risks-- that is not a totally unreasonable stance but if it's actually bothering his play that's scary), but guys who can rebound and run the break are sick. his form looks smooth, his work ethic seems good, and most importantly he can guard perimeter players if he gets switched out on them, a necessary skill in today's nba.

great fit for the celtics, im nervous they'll **** it up with how bad their drafting was last year.

dean also took one of my sleepers in brice-- i guess he's a bean pole but i don't know how there isn't more interest in a 6'10 athletic big who shoots 80% from the FT line. little bit of a "tweener" but if you get a third big at the end of the first round who is relatively ready to play and can provide value at the end of his rookie deal you should be pretty damn happy.
