this is everybody who he rated 14+. porter was 12.4 and zeller was 11.1, which is a range where there are far more false positives. there are some duds on the 14+ list but there is far more good stuff in the top top range. once you get to 20+ they are 4/4 HoFers. 16-19 range pretty loaded with studs too.

given his recruiting pedigree and the fact that he didn't rack up his steals on a gimmicky zone or press defense (UK actually plays conservative, non-gambly D), i think it's fair to say that there's nothing readily fraudulent about him. he has sick length, quicks, athleticism, and reflexes. it's a unique blend of tools that gives him potential to be a sick, sick good defensive player. if he stays healthy and isn't a pothead like beas, he could easily be a better version of noah. there's a reason why a top GM went out of his way to trade for him: he has that mega-max upside.

maybe he becomes nothing, but he's still a pretty sweet lotto ticket and it's def too soon to claim any credit for being short him

No, I didn't.

You also may want to check your tongue-in-cheek detector.

Dean, how many of those guys in 16-19 missed their rookie years with acls and lacked skill to fall back on?

I would've thought the same, but I recently read accounts of people who were blown away by Blake's skill level a few years back.

Blake broke his kneecap, he didn't tear his ACL

ACLs are way worse

blake also has 2 partial meniscus removals iirc. guy is possibly on borrowed time despite his current awesomeness

Would have to wait until 2nd season is completed, but probably in the 7-9 range.

Obviously open to feedback here, but I think Oladipo, Zeller, Noel, Adams, MCW, Giannis, Len, and Burke probably still go above Dieng as of right now. Dieng probably goes 9-12, I think, given a coinflip with Mason and that we'd have to see whether teams were willing to give up on whatever upside Bennett/Porter/KCP have left. lol McLemore.

i think the only ppl he def goes behind are yolodipo, nerl, mcwim, and giannis.

he is kinda old- already 24. didn't he slip due to knee issues? are those still a thing?

i def snap him over bennett + porter. i still have hope for KCP but it may be correct to take gorgui over him anyway. Len I have NFI, seems like he had a rough year but maybe he'll be much better next year when he's fully healthy.

i've got KELLY > Cody still fwiw. cody definitely improved down the stretch and could be alright, but i still don't see how he's going to become overwhelmingly useful w/o hitting 3's.

adams faded down the stretch but he's still mega young and i think i take him over gorgui. burke is meh, he's going to be a solid PG but there are just so many of those these days. so idk maybe something like

1. NERL
2. Giannis
3. Yolodipo
4. McWim
5. Stadams
6. Burke
7. Gorgui
8. Mason
9. Kelly
10. Len
11. KCP
12. Cody
13. Porter
14. THJ
15. Bennett

but i barely watched any of these guys this year so ya know. this list is not the best.

Oh yeah, forgot about Kelly. Anyways, was more guessing at what GMs would do than what the correct order was. So someone like Zeller, who's 2.7 years younger, was drafted 17 picks higher the first go-round, and has been legitimately good since the ASB I think goes ahead of Dieng ~always. wrt Kelly/Zeller, the stats at least suggest Zeller's been playing decent defense, so that's one possible source of a gap in future value vs. KO.

I take Dieng over Porter and Bennett, too. My personal non-GM take: I think that list breaks down into three pretty clear tiers - 1-6, 7-12, 13-15 - but within 7-12 it seems pretty fluid and unclear.

oh okay that's fair enough. i assume the bobcats are still taking cody > dieng. and tbh i prob overrate KCP and he might belong in the porter/thj/bennett tier. i just don't understand why he wouldn't be a good spot up shooter if he's such an ace at pull up jumpers, but who knows maybe he's a rare backwards breed.

redraft, I go:

1. MCW
2. Giannis
3. Noel
4. Oladipo
5. Dieng
6. Plumlee
7. Adams
8. Burke
9. Hardaway Jr.
10. Zeller

Len too low. His ceiling is still underrated. He is still not even 21 years old. I'd take him top 6 in redraft.

Redraft is really hard though. I might just go 1) Noel because no one else seems that attractive that high. Not convinced on mcw, or anyone really.

Bennett obviously wouldnt go 1 in a redraft, but he would be ahead of Porter

+1 Clev would still get the first pick in the redraft right? How could anyone possibly say what they would do.

porter has mostly been terrible with almost no flashes on being good

bennett started out very very very awful but showed flashes of being a capable-contributing nba player

also i am ranking players from 1-15 from that list and not considering what team drafted where...

also keep in mind bennett was hurt and out of shape coming in

also he "played" under mike brown

if he was drafted by anyone semi-competent at developing young players then...

montross blows. tyler pretty much blows. serge blows. avoiding big white stiffs from any school in NC or around the country is probably a could strategy. another plumlee going in the 1st and kelly going in the second is just poor drafting.
