I got a push notification that Jokic dropped a 30/20/20?!?

That’s truly astounding.

think they just did it again. down 1, layup at the buzzer literally last split second. didn't recognize any names on the court. nobody beats the wiz? lol

Best bit was every other players "wait...wat" expression

In 20 years they will say:
« you can’t have those numbers unless you play vs plumbers ».

« The guy wasn’t that athletic much anyway , thats proof and look at the « overweight » second (?) best player in the league .
Clearly No skills at all …lol »

How those words ring true from the past ain’t it ?

Nah. Hopefully they change the rules back to normalish where people can put back in perspective how hard it is to get a triple double.

Going by public opinion, sounds like SGA has locked up MVP tonight.

Can't be mad and well deserved.

Got to say kudos to the NBA for coming up with an award title with a vague definition so everyone on the media gets to argue about who the real MVP is endless given the lack of definition. Product gets talked about

Had the award been called BPITL or anything more factual, nobody would think SGA should be the winner

The NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP) is an annual National Basketball Association (NBA) award given since the 1955–56 season to the best performing player of the regular season.

is that the official that we're rocking with? if so i like it better than the "most valuable to their team" one that some other awards have iirc. seems simple, which player had the best season

Pretty sure Bird actually did his own plumbing though. He injured his back working on his driveway or something.

Too, too bad about Junior Bridgeman passing. He was one of the coolest, coolest silky smooth Louisville players from the very early Crum era. I might compare him to Bob Love, Bobby Dandridge, Marques Johnson, Jamaal Wilkes of the era. Played when salaries were nothing compared to today, but was some kind of titan businessman afterward amassing massive wealth.

I think he hit the shot that put them up 1 against UCLA in the Final Four for Louisville to play UK in the finals. What a spectacle that was for a Kentucky boy. Somebody hit at the buzzer for the Bruins dynasty, maybe Richard Washington to win 75-74. Gonna look it up. Nope Bridgeman missed at the buzzer to win in regulation, Wesley Cox scored last for the Cardinals in the O.T. Classic, classic Louisville Dudes.

How are these SGA seasons much different than Jordan, except that he shoots a considerably higher percentage?

Rest in Peace Mr. Bridgeman.

From what I read about him, he was a great businessman and an even better human being.

there's a massive stat inflation now

the game has changed dramatically

jordan never played in college with a 3 point shot line, it had only recently made its way to the nba prior to his arrival

games were much slower

rules favored the defense much more than today

we're getting 100 possessions per game today vs 91 in jordan's era

points per posession were much lower then as well without so many 3s

Larry Bird, a man who was synonymous with 3 point accuracy led the lead twice with 82 and 90 made

last year 90 3s would have put you tied for 139th best with such legends as Brandin Podziemski, Marcus Sasser, & RJ Barret, 82 would tie you for 157th, just below centers Nikola Jokic, Trey Lyles, & Kevin Love

there's massive stat inflation which is why DeMar DeRozan is 27th all time in scoring

FWIW , during mj era you had around 20-25 players with 20ppg+ .

The last 3 season it’s around 50 players that score 20ppg shrug .

SGA's numbers not near Jordan based on all the advanced stats, but clearly better than Kobe's.

He is one of the owners of where I work, he came through shortly after taking ownership and he wanted to talk to us employees one on one but our managers were like oh no, no time kinda thing as they were worried we were going to say bad things and he was like no, I want to talk to them not as a owner or boss but as a human.

I have never heard 1 bad thing about him. A good interview with Charles Barkley and he talks about him about how he was a smart business guy and a good human being.

Not to address your larger point, but this isn't really true. Yeah, hand checking was certainly a thing in MJ's day vs. now, but so was illegal defense. Being unable to run any time of zone everyone remembers, but the limits on basically any sort of roaming/shading on defense were massive for Jordan.

Most top NBA talents can beat their guy 1-on-1, but in the 90s, you had to keep a guy glued to some 20% 3 pt shooter on the weak side because if he came down to the opposite block it was illegal defense and a tech.
