People need to decide if it’s a joke or a serious issue.

I’m pretty sure it’s contingent on if the girl/family push hard for criminal charges. I think there are a lot of universes where he loses three games and it’s just over.

Miles Briges is playing NBA basketball for Christ’s sake

Depends how you felt about KAI losing a ton of games for a retweet on X.

Statutory rape will always be treated significantly more harshly than domestic violence

Slugworth is probably crossing his fingers this doesn’t get pushed at all and this lives and dies as Twitter hearsay, but if this gets pursued at all Giddey is out of basketball

Absolute shame that OKC/PHI was in OKC today. We need those chants from away teams

So what is the age where people find the Giddey situation uncomfortable?

A 21 year old and a 17 year old getting together is something that I imagine is incredibly common in North America and not particularly noteworthy. I feel like half the women I know probably had a relationship with someone 21 or older before their 18th birthday.

Right now, the story seems to be contained on the "edges of the Internet". If it stays there then I bet nothing happens. Places like this, twitter, etc are the only places where we can discuss the details, and that's just the details because everywhere I go the mods are instantly deleting anything with personal information. Media picked up on it but if it has no legs then it might be over without any type of discipline from the league.

The league wants this to quietly go away for sure.

The Nets experiment has failed tremendously. Dinwiddie, Finney Smith, the 2 forwards they got for Durant, Bridges and Johnson? And uh Ben Simmons.

They traded 2 guys that wanted to leave, one being 35 years old and the other one being an expiring weirdo for a lot of assets which includes players and draft picks. they did great

Problem is they have quite a few good rotation players who puts their floor too high to properly tank and their ceiling is too limited because of lack of offensive superstar, so they're a bit in no-man's land. They need to commit fully one way or the other (and I'd recommend the tanking way by trading Bridges)

They can't tank because they don't own any of their own picks for 5 years.

they can't tank this year as Houston has their 2024 pick.

2024 first round draft pick to Houston
Brooklyn's 2024 1st round pick to Houston [Brooklyn-Cleveland-Houston-Indiana, 1/16/2021]

Ups, forgot they're in the rare situation where they own a bunch of picks yet don't own their own

come to think of it, would be pretty sick if no team was allowed to use their own picks, like they had to be swapped or traded by a certain date (well in advance of the draft so the pure equity value was still a little unknown) or forfeited

would really throw a loop in tanking and be the next best alternative to adopting a euro style relegation system

There was this proposal a few years back that the team with the worst record gets to choose the pick of a different team for the year after that. So you get to choose which team you think will suck the worst, but your own record doesn’t directly control your pick.

Silver said something like - eh they’ll still tank.

i think that at the beginning teams would still tank with the belief they are front-loading their picks ie their top lottery pick will just come one year later

but i do believe with teams never having their own picks, we'll stop getting so many teams which are consistently bad for more than an entire season so there would be a ton of variance in it and you could ultimately end up picking a team which ends up with a pretty decent record because without the real tangible incentive, they are more pressed to put out a winning product because now having a winning record at home or getting knocked out of the 1st round of the playoffs doesn't come with the downside of losing draft equity

I wonder how many times James had zero rebounds in a game.

Looks like 13 years ago LeBron had a zero rebound game, and this makes 4 such games all together according to stat muse.

his rebounding numbers are the major indicator that he really doesn't give a flying **** playing this year.

either it's a new orleans thing or just a basketball thing. He's not really giving it his all.
