Jewell Loyd sets history
In a historic game against the Washington Mystics on 11 July 2023, Jewell Loyd set a record of having a whopping 9 three-pointers. While she was still not able to get her team to win, she definitely made the headline.

——

DraftKings has a promo, bet anything on a Caitlyn Clark game and share in 1 Million in bonus bets if she breaks the single game 3 point record.

I think she’ll need to shoot 20 threes in a game to make 10. Maybe she can get hot and shoot 12-18 maybe tho.

They were +1300 most places yesterday, you gotta shop!!

I unloaded on the Liberty at +250 on bol, they were +180/-220 on circa, so that'll be a fun sweat for the full season.

Hard to triangulate the Vegas lines with so much movement in the early season, but I think they are only a point worse than the Aces, and Conn and Seattle both look worse than their preseason projections, and it doesn't look like anybody has emerged from the atl/min/dallas/phx middle class.

Think Indiana has looked better every game. Fagbenle for Samuelson is a big upgrade, Samuelson has been their biggest negative so far imo and Fagbenle actually sprints down the floor and helps CC get the transition game going and can actually catch the ball and make layups. Boston looked better last game but still doesn't look great. I didn't watch a single game last year, but she was ROY with incredible advanced stats, so I'm not sure what happened. Switching to a short roll and floater off of the CC pnr instead of trying to roll all the way to the bucket was an improvement last game though.

Nobody wants to start 0-4 but all 4 games are against 2 of the top-3 teams, and apparently 8 out of the 12 WNBA teams make the playoffs so I think they'll probably be fine.

Every stretch Clark played last night, Indiana lost. Every stretch she sat, they won. -18 in a 4 point loss

If New York loses one player, they’re in the toilet. Their bench played 7 minutes in game 4 against Connecticut. Dolson out. Johannes out. Even the Chinese lady is gone.

Maybe they’ll find a way to circumvent the cap like Vegas did. But for now, LV is light years ahead

mavs could really use kleber this series to give them a stretch 4 who can hold his own against wolves bigs

also when dallas is on offense, just the way to beat Gobert has always been to spread him out or post up against him with an elite big (jokic/embiid) and dallas just plays 2 guys who cant do anything but dunk
I'm pretty sure PJ will be on KAT. No way we put Gafford/Lively on him in my opinion, at least not starting out.

Glass half full, Luka and Kyrie can play Gobert off the court. We easily played him off the court when he was with Utah, but obviously Minnesota has much better wing defenders. I agree that getting Maxi back would be huge if he's able to shoot and stretch their defense out more. On defense, Lively/Gafford should be able to roam quite a bit if they are guarding Gobert, which will let them help out on Ant or KAT as needed. I'm assuming PJ will be on KAT, which should be an interesting matchup to watch. I don't think we can put Gafford/Lively on KAT because then they won't be able to roam and that would leave PJ on Gobert which would kill us on the boards. DJJ should be guarding Ant every minute I would think, possibly with a little Josh Green mixed in.

I could see both teams somewhat struggling to score. And if that's the case, I like our chances having Luka and Kyrie trying to take advantage of switches to give us a small edge. Luka will need to keep his composure because their wing defenders will likely give him fits at times. The 4 regular season games are meaningless between these two teams. They all occurred prior to the Mavs trades, and Luka and Kyrie only played together in one of the games (they both scored pretty easily in that one game though).

I'm actually surprised Wolves are favored so heavily. I expected it to be Wolves -120 or so. I've got Mavs finals bets already but will likely be taking them this series as well. Should be a fun series.

Series line is a little funny. Minnesota 62% in G1 means they're rated around a half a point better than Dallas, which means Dallas should be around 58% at home, which means Dallas should be 43% to win the series, but you can buy them at +162 which is 38%. That's a pretty big gap. On top of that, Kleber might be able to come back this series, which would make Dallas series price even BETTER than their g1 implied price.

I know Luka was pretty banged up against OKC, so I wonder if they are pricing the expected value of his injury at the end of the series to be worse than the ev of his injury in g1. The argument for it being worse in g1 is you know it's already affecting him somewhat, and more time means it will get to heal. Argument for it being worse is, it's already affecting him somewhat, but playing g1 on 4 days rest is as healthy as he'll be, and then every sequential game it will get worse and worse.

does DAL get any G1 bump for extra day's rest and not coming off the most intense 7 game series in franchise history?

Pacers are going to have to live with contesting JB/Tatum mid ranges. Leaving White/Holiday open for 3s is going to eat you alive and you can't cover everything

Jalen Brown made his first conference finals in 2017 during his rookie year at the age of 20.

Tatum arrived a year later and also made the conference finals as a rookie at the age of 20. The Celtics took the Cavaliers to seven games in that series.

I think this absurdly early success has always distorted the media and fans perception of the duo and team. People expected way too much in the immediate aftermath of those rookie seasons. When the Celtics didn't win an NBA championship, people started making up weird reasons. (and even worse, saying they should be split up).
