I've gotta say though, calling the first real androgynous superstar boring would be flat-out false...calling Radiohead's music boring isn't necessarily inaccurate, depending on your perspective.

As a player, I don't think I've ever been blown away by anything I've ever heard from them. I understand chops can only take you so far, but still.

*EDIT: On second thought, I think Paranoid Android is probably one of the coolest tunes I've ever heard so meh.

Spoiler:

I wasn't planinng on picking Mariah Carey but I just cannot pass on her now. She has more #1 hits than Elvis. ****ing Elvis! She's close to topping The Beatles for most #1 hits of all time. Her voice is all time legendary, 5-octave range, whistle register. Once in a generation vocal talent. She completely reshaped her image at least once and knows how to play the game. Global superstar icon. Two of her albums have reached diamond status. She's sold like 3 tabajillion albums.

Quote:
Michael Jackson and Mariah Carey have scooped up top honors as best-selling male and female artists of the millennium at the 12th annual World Music Awards.

The awards, which honor the world's greatest-selling recording artists in various categories, were given at a glamour-filled soiree at Monaco's famed seaside Sporting Club and broadcast live to an estimated 900 million viewers in more than 150 countries.

The two-hour special was organized in this tiny Riviera principality under the patronage of Monaco's Prince Albert.

Jackson and Carey are two of the world's most celebrated recording artists.
Oh right I have that Michael Jacson fella too.

Carey is a great pick for your studio imo. She's a #1 machine.

I leveled myself quite a few times trying to find a reason not to pick her but there are zero good reasons

Just because you don't get something doesn't mean it's bad. Making statements like this about a band that is so universally loved just makes you look ignorant or small minded. I don't get Bowie, but I'm not about to call him boring because that would clearly be silly.
oh pls dont be so literal. its pretty obv that there was an understood "to me" or "imho" in this post.

sorry i dont like your favorite band. to be clear, i dont think they are bad. i am fairly indifferent to them. i would have no problem listening to them, but as of yet i have never had "oh man i really feel like listening to some radiohead" moment even tho ive tried their stuff a bunch.

Its probably because I put some of her lyrics in this thread but did not give her credit. Thats what it was wasn't it?

FWIW I just did my writeup for my artist. LOL if s/he goes. I'll probably just quit.* Its just that I know I have absolutely no time tomorrow to do anything outside of PM this writeup to someone tomorrow morning as I patiently pray for a pick run miracle.

With them it is mostly about songwriting.

They've also completely re-defined themselves somewhere between 3 and 4 times.

They aren't my favorite band or anything. They were for a minute about a decade ago.

They are far from my favorite band today. Not even top 10. Your post just closely followed MEB's "worst pick of the draft post" so I felt the need to emphatically point out how wrong it was to hate the pick.

The only worthwhile grounds for hating the Thom Yorke pick is that he isn't Radiohead by himself. I think he is the right person to pick, but it is very very close and I think you force yourself into using at least one more pick on them.
