My team would've been perfect if I hadn't made the horrible decision to pass on her.

Just came across the debate about Lady Gaga's ceiling vs. Beyonce's, that was pretty entertaining in hindsight

Were Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis not draftable as a single entity? Someone could have stolen this draft with them and Max Martin.

We should do this again.

It's funny looking back five years later. Seeing who was projected to be a long-term success that didn't make it. To see the things people thought then and how they might have changed, or how new information has come to light about them.

My favorite pick in the draft has to be Andy Samberg. Not even the best "musical comedian associated with Saturday Night Live," if you insist on shopping in that narrowly specific genre.

We were scoring this on "most Nobel Prizes in Literature won," right?

I'm a little surprised this thread didn't get some bumps when Bowie and Prince died

not the biggest early Soundgarden fan but he wrote a bunch of those ones too, including Loud Love.

then he also wrote the following songs solo...music, lyrics, everything!:

Rusty Cage
Outshined
Searching With My Good Eye Closed
Mind Riot (more amazing singing on display)
Let Me Drown
Fell on Black Days
Black Hole Sun
Spoonman
The Day I Tried to Live
Like Suicide
Pretty Noose
Blow Up the Outside World
Burden in My Hand
No Attention

among others. plus he got co-writing credits on a bunch of others. he also put out a decent 1st solo album with songs like:

Can't Change Me
Preaching the End of the World
Sweet Euphoria
Sunshower

then there was the 3 Audioslave albums, which i'm sure he was at least a co-writer of many of the songs. obv the lead guitarist wrote his own solos though, which is probably part of the reason why each song is listed as being written by the band in total

Cochise
Show Me How to Live
Gasoline
Like a Stone
I Am the Highway

etc, etc, etc...

and you think Cornell could play with Jimi? well you tell me!

sorta caught me off guard, even a big fan like myself didn't realize what a prolific songwriter he's been over his career. for some reason i thought that a band like Soundgarden was far more collaborative than it looks to be in truth. good for my label!
WELP, so much for getting that sick added value on the back half of his life...

In my time of dying, I want nobody to mourn

All I want for you to do is take my body home

Those are the opening lines to the last song Chris Cornell ever sang on stage. It was a cover of Led Zeppelin's "In My Time of Dying."

Cornell and his band Soundgarden have covered the song before and they did it again to close out the show at Detroit's Fox Theater on Wednesday. Just hours later, Cornell was found dead. He was 52

Creepy

I was reading this thread after the Chris Cornell bump and I just wanted to mention that for some reason this link now goes to a review of the 1992 film Article 99. Which at first glance has a pretty good cast.
