Well, undrafted guitarist was important in the Clash and `co-wrote' the songs - I think Strummer wrote more of the lyrics and less of the tunes, but definitely a division of labour. I don't much care for undrafted's post-Clash music, but he has produced three well received records in the last 10 years for well known undrafted, so the answer is probably close to 50/50.

Been listening to The Stooges a lot the past few days and their music holds up incredibly well imo.

Fun House is arguably the most important album of the entire punk genre, and I'd argue it's aged better than any album The Clash ever recorded.

Early Stooges are just so badass.

meh, I'd much rather listen to The Clash than Iggy Pop. Not even a big Clash fan either, but their music can be pretty chill/cool.

London Calling is just a ridiculously amazing album. Listened to it hundreds of times. So much that Ive basically overlooked the rest of The Clash albums.

heh, maybe we have slightly different definitions of chill, but songs like Spanish Bombs aren't really aggressive sounding songs.

I wasn't trying to say they sounded like Miles Davis or someone similar.

Chris Cornell is a cool pick. Probably self indulgent, but you know what, it would be for me too!

I think he has one of the best rock voices ever, sick range and power. Big Soundgarden fan too.

Soundgarden is the best major 90s rock band imo or close enough, Cornell's side projects haven''t been nearly as good. But epic voice.

ive never liked soundgarden. their sound is just not appealing to me. i like nirvana and a multitude of unnameds that are the same "genre" but for some reason soundgarden is just all kinds of blah.

My brain is currently broken from tournament poker I am going to need some time to come up with a pick/writeup. You can skip us if you want.

I liked Soundgarden more than this, but agree with the undrafted bands being better. Cornell is a truly great singer though. This might be a little too early for him, but not by that much.

yeah i like Cornell's value as a lead singer/front man for me, but he's also a far more prolific songwriter than i even as a big fan thought. i'll have more on this in a bit when i get some time, but just think of him singing on some Jimi Hendrix/Jack White album.

he's even got the 80's rock yelp without it sounding overly cheesy...

Cornell has an amazing voice, and before the whole Seattle thing happened, for all intensive purposes Soundgarden was a metal band.

Yeah, I'd say this is true. When I said I didn't like Led Zep earlier but a lot of their umm successors/followers I meant stuff like White Stripes and Soundgarden which is extremely influenced by Zep; but for some reason I can't get into Zep at all.

Pick 98

Warren Zevon

Was gonna save this pick for later, but F it gonna make sure I lock him up. GOAT level songwriter on such a unique level and amazingly creative musician. Worst case scenario he just happens to be on the label and does his own thing creating really cool critically acclaimed music. Best case scenario he's able to work with the other creative forces on the label to create some amazing music both from a songwriting and collaborative artist perspective.
