Losing to the Steelers by 3 after giving up a blocked punt for a TD to start the game is a pretty good result for the Browns.

I think Kizer has what it takes-- sure, he needs some refinement, particularly in accuracy, but he manipulates the pocket, uses his feet, and sees the field in the way a franchise guy needs to.

Sees the field? LOL the dude literally refused to throw the ball away after rolling out to a side which had no receivers. Almost every pass that traveled more than 10 yards through the air was overthrown. He's Cam Newton minus the running ability.

They're playing a 21 year old rookie QB on a bad roster. If he sucks they end up w/ a top pick and draft a new QB - and Kizer can be a backup w/ potential. If they do alright this year they still have a lot of extra picks including Houstons 1st and 2nd. Browns gonna keep trading down and turn the Wentz pick into like 8 1st rounders.

Are you by chance a Donald Trump supporter?

LOL absolutely not. I'm something far worse in the eyes of the denizens of SE, a Steeler fan. Just my observations from having watched the game on Sunday, but Kizer is not good. His decision making (which can improve) was questionable at best and his accuracy (which will not markedly improve) was poor especially on deeper passes.

I'm just glad #84 came to play otherwise the Brownies might have stolen a win.

When they got that 2 pointer I thought they might have had a shot. I hate the steelers but even if I didn't I'd still feel bad watching a team continually get beatdown while sometimes losing close games for over a decade.

That first drive was hilarious. I hope Kizer is decent and this recency bias during week 1 within all of the games has been atrocious. Dude has been thrown into a horrible, horrible situation. Give the kid a break.

Browns are in a great spot for the future. A ton of picks in next years draft, a handful of young players with potential, and some cap space to work with.

They are absolutely not married to Kizer and they will probably draft someone next year in a possibly QB rich draft.

Couldn't you say this about them every year? (while inserting current QB for Kizer.)

Tim Couch was drafted pre-rookie wage scale, so no.

Couch was starting to play better and then his shoulder got wrecked if I recall.

They have 11 picks in next years draft including 5 in the first 2 rounds.

They have the 5th most cap space in the league going into next year according to OTC.

They had 3 first round picks this year (MYLES, Peppers, Njoku), and they have a few other young players with potential (Coleman, Ogbah, Ogunjobi, and Kizer I guess)

It breaks my heart that Joe Thomas will probably be done by the time this team gels together

He was the original starter for the "new" Browns, and just like Texans, and unlike the Panthers and Jaguars, they received little from the league to help get them started. Couch spent several years trying his best getting beat to hell behind terrible o-lines with little to no talent around him.

I guess the larger point was that they began life saddled with a #1 overall QB contract, which more or less ensured he made top 5 money at the position and was also locked up for many years, without enough talent around him for it to matter so they were ****ed for a half a decade from the jump after they reentered the league.

Peppers was a complete non factor on Sunday. They hid him by having him play centerfield 15-25 yards off the LOS almost every rip. It was disgraceful that the Steelers couldn't get their run game going against that nonsense, but I'll give the Brown's front 7 credit they won the battle up front most of the day.

I didn't see the game but was checking the gamecast. I thought I remember seeing Peppers had a couple decent punt returns. I even thought one of them was like a 20-25 yarder which isn't huge but can help flip field position. I can't speak to his defense though.

Always assume the worst about the Browns until proven wrong.

You have to feel for Joe Thomas. The guy has been a rock solid player for his entire career on a team that has been absolutely horrible. He deserved better.

7/$80.5m

He'll be ok. If he wanted to play for a decent team, he shouldn't have signed a 7-year deal with the Browns...

Sashi Brown is owning the league.
Ripping on the Browns is just what people do that don't know ****ing **** about football at this point.

After watching Kizer I would jump on the bandwagon if they didn't have such ugly gear.

Having those picks isn't going to guarantee them a QB who can play and they won't have a functioning offense until they get one. It's like having two tickets instead of one to a big powerball drawing. Sure your chances went up, but they are still effectively ~0%.
