I'm surprised Favre's streak is getting votes. The odds Manning breaks Favre's streak has got to be higher than some of these other records being broken.

Re: the 8 ints in one game, a few years ago didn't some reserve QB have 7 in one game? I seem to recall Detmer for the Lions but I'm not sure. I don't think that one is anywhere close to being the most untouchable.

I agree that 6 ties seems most unlikely to be matched.
The way the game has changed in the last ten years or so with regards to backup QBs (i.e. most teams basically run 2 QBs and have hair-triggers at benching guys for one week, two weeks, etc) there are probably only like 8 or 9 QBs that could even POSSIBLY throw that many INTs without being yanked. And those are the guys least likely to do it. Still, 6 ties come on.

Many teams won't have the same owners for close to 29 years, much less same head coach.

Assani,
A lot of these are really interesting tidbits but like they are just random and borderline irrelevant. I don't mean to criticize you because this thread is intersting but halfway through the poll I was guessing the next one would be consecutive road games in a dome with an odd number of passing yards by a skill position player.

Good poll.

But Steve Smith led the league in receiving yards and receptions (and receiving TDs) in 2005, so I'm not sure where you got the Chad Johnson record from.

Not really.
Jerry Rice's Career TD record
Jerry Rice's Career Total Yards Record
Derrick Thomas' 7 sacks in one game
Miami Dolphin's undefeated season
Marvin Harrison's catches in a season
Miami Dolphin's 3 sacks given up all year
SF 49ers' 18 straight road wins
Ernie Nevers' 40 points in 1 game(6 TDs, 4 PATs)
Chad Johnson's straight years leading league in receiving(4, going on 5)
Hutson's 8 seasons of leading league in TDs

Those are the records that are actually meaningful

Buc's 26 straight losses
Len Dawson's 7 fumbles in one game
George Blanda's 42 INTs in a season
Jim Hardy's 8 INTs in one game

These records are useless, sure they might not get broken but they are records for sucking. They aren't difficult to break if someone wanted to they could fumble seven times in a game.

Ben Roethlisberger's 14 straight wins by a QB to start a career
Atlanta Falcon's 42 straight years(and counting) without back to back winning seasons
1932 Bears' 6 ties in one season
Buffallo Bills' 4 straight SB losses

These records are arbitrary and don't really prove anything at all.

Than there's a whole group of records that are sort of impressive but realistically they have a ton to do with positive variance/longevity

Unitas' 47 straight games with a TD
(Obv Unitas is awesome but I mean this stat has a lot more to do with positive variance than Unitas being a great qb)
Favre's consecutive QB starts
John Runyan's 160+ straight games at o-line
Bruce Matthews' 296 games played at o-line
Tom Landry's 29 striaght years coaching same team
James Wiler's 496 touches(catches+rushes) in one season
(These five are sort of impressive but they are mainly set because they were lucky enough to not got injured and it also doesn't involved them needing to play at a high level they just need to play)

Don Shula's 347 wins
Tom Landry's 20 straight winning seasons

These records are also mainly because of longevity.

Earl Campbell's 4 200 yard games in a season
Barry Sander's 14 straight 100 yard games

These two are impressive but sort of arbitrary I mean what if Barry Sanders instead of doing 14 straight 100 he did 180 yards 7 in a row than 99 than 180 7 in a row again. He wouldn't have either of those records broke despite having much better production

Fewest Yards Allowed in a season: 1539 by 1934 Chicago Cardinals

Not adjusting for era is ******ed sure its a record that will like never get broken but who cares? Football was played completely differently and they only played 13 games so an NFL team would have to do it in 3 fewer games.

Lastly this whole thread has a clear answer. Its not even debatable its the 6 ties in one season. There probably have been like 6 ties in the last twenty years. This will never ever happen again even though nobody cares because the record is completely useless and tells us nothing.

You watched that thing on the NFL Network, too, right?

I imagine all but a few of these will last for a very very long time.

As far as DB's go you are missing Dick "Night train" Lane's 14 INTs in a 12 game season.

Still the record for any season. In a 16 game season that's almost 19 INTs. For one DB that's close to untouchable the way QBs are taught to throw the ball away now.

6 ties and 1539 yards allowed are both as close to impossible as you can get because of fundamental changes like overtime and longer scheduling. Even pro-rated to 16 games, the latter is ludicrous.

Derrick Thomas' 7 sacks in one game
I remember watching this game as a kid. On the last play of the game Thomas had Dave Krieg in his arms for what would have been sack number 8 but Krieg somehow broke the tackle and threw a ~50 yard TD to win the game. I'd love to see it again on ESPN classic.

FWIW, 8 times a team has intercepted 8 passes or more in a game, and as recently as 2001 a team had 7. So I don't think the record of one QB being intercepted 8 times is as impossible as some of you think.

Surprised Earl Campbell's 4 200 yard games in one season isn't getting more attention considering that only one person has more 200 yard games in his ENTIRE CAREER(OJ Simpson with 6).

Also Don Hutson's 8 seasons of leading the league in TDs...the next closest is 3 and only 3 guys ever have that(J Brown, Emmitt, and Lance Alworth).

Tough to imagine any team winning 14 straight games, yet alone one led by a QB making his first 14 career starts.

Tom Landry's 20 straight winning seasons seems pretty insane to me.

I didn't realize that there was no OT in the past, so I kinda wish I didn't include the 6 tie one then, as its only untouchable due to rule changes.
Willie Parker had two 200-yard games last season.

If not for garbage time, he could have had more.

This record is very touchable.

Jamal Lewis has three career 200-yard games.

Parker has three career.

Tiki Barber had five career, three in 2003.

LDT has four career.

reminds me of Dimaggio's 56, Ted Williams was a better hitter during the streak
