The Big 3 (Harvick, Truex, KB) continue to dominate on speed.

Chase Elliott and Erik Jones both got their 1st Cup win.

Jimmie Johnson is having his worst season OAT and continues to struggle.

Suarez, Stenhouse, Byron, Bubba all need a win to playoff.

Rumor is McMurray's last year with Ganassi and the 1 car.

Almirola continues to top ten in Danica's old equipment.

Vegas and the Charlotte Roval in the playoffs this year.

Surprising because that's a chance to get back to relevant. But, yeah he's had a solid career for a long time period, time to move on. Definitely underachieved on that 5 car hendrick team tho. Best of luck to him as a car owner.

That leaves the door open for one of the handful of youngn's (CBell) to move up. McMurray and Newman seem like the next ones on the chopping block. Jimmie does not seem ready to go at all (even though he's having his worst season ever and losing Lowe's), no idea how long he'll stay, dude does triathlons so it's not like he will lose on fitness compared to the field.

If I'm remembering what I read correctly, they offered him a ride after he had decided on retirement. He had put so much thought into it, once he made his decision he was sticking with it.

Definitely a hard ride to pass up if you're, like you said, looking to become relevant again.

Fun Fact: Bobby Labonte won back to back poles at Bristol in the 1990 Busch Series, the following year his first NASCAR win came at Bristol in the 1991 Busch Series.

Bobby subsequently logged 42 Cup races in his career at Bristol over the span of 21 years.

Bobby has 0 Cup wins and less laps led at Bristol than Michael Waltrip.

Wouldn't have guessed that one.
