At first I was quite concerned that the talent level would drop off for round 2, but I started making a few lists of players. Wow, there are tons of great players left.

Anyway, this thing rules, thanks Assani for destroying my life.

Like this pick a lot. Obv I'm a C's homer, but Pierce has proven this year that all along he was capable of good team play on both sides of the ball.

you guys may not believe me but wiki and basketball reference wont load for me. neither will yahoo. twoplustwo is only working because it was already loaded. so i cant look up all the stats for pierce right now. i wrote out most of my post, but need to put in the PER and number of all-star game stuff later when my internet isn't being all funky.

but ya, definitely pierce.

Yeah there's a few I would have taken before him too (guys that are less stab-prone obv) but it's still a good pick. He was in my group of the next few guys to go; there's not a ton to complain about with him.

I believe you, GKA. You would never lie.

I wrote your pick in the thread and a mod can edit in your write up later.

With the 39th pick in the 2008 NBA 3 pt era draft, Green Kool Aid selects...

From Oakland California and Kansas University
Number 34
The Truth
Paaaaaaaaaaaaul Pierce

*Crowd goes nuts* WOOOOOOOOO

Never has an athlete frustrated me and made me love him on more occasions. There have been month-long stretches in the NBA where I felt he was better than Kobe or LeBron, and times when I would have shipped him out of town for Ron Artest. But in the end, Paul Pierce is the man.

He was once stabbed multiple times, has been on way too many losing teams without ever requesting a trade, was made captain despite a more introverted personality, and played many years out of position at the two guard when he is truly a small forward.

Starting at the age of 24, he had PER's of 22.3, 22.7, 19.4, 21.8, 23.6, 21.7, and this past year with two other all-stars dropped a tad below 20.

He has a postup game, a midrange game, can launch it from deep, gets to the line like the best of them, and is pretty efficient given his high usage. He can rebound incredibly well from the wing spot, averaging over 6.4 boards per game for his career. He also is one of the best wing defenders in the league when he wants to be, and has a career steals average of 1.6 per game, recording over 2 steals a game in one season.

He is a 3 time All-NBA third team selection, and six time all-star. Paul Pierce.

Some picks are good value; some are bad value. I think this pick is pretty much the exact amount of value you would expect to get at the 40 spot. Solid but unspectacular.

i was thinking that. i really dont appreciate him enough. he was the second best player from a loaded draft, and is in my estimation a top 40 player out of the last 30 drafts. even if i picked him too high, means he was a top 50 player from that era. one of the all time great celtics for sure.

I like it. I think he has a game like Pippen. Very solid all around and a great perimeter defender but not very flashy. And like Pippen he tends to get underrated because of this.

Not saying he's as good as Pippen, more like a poor man's Pippen(compliment) but with more scoring.

as an update, i'm just waiting to see what Seadood28 says228 says regarding trading for my pick(s). if he doesn't reply within the next few hours, i'll just move ahead with my pick(s)

i've decided on one guy for sure, and am deciding between 2-3 people for the other pick.

THIS DRAFT IS TOTALLY RIGGED

Bird was drafted in 1978 and Magic in 1979 (I think Magic is still OK under the rules, it's 1979-80 season right?)
