I really like Brand. I thought he might get slept on longer.

Really wanted Mutombo (nice pick sergsz), but Brand was next on my list after him when I first made it. Even still I debated about a couple other players before finally making the pick and almost took a different PF over him.

I really could not decide between Brand and Webber at all. Brand has a very high PER, Webber was a better scorer at his peak, better passer and better defender. But Brand is so efficient and I wasn't sure how to asses the injury situation. Obviously Webber is proven injury prone but I guess we wont know until the future with Brand whether it was just one freak injury or not (or maybe we wont, ruptured achilles tendon is serious).

Like the Brand pick. It was between him, Mutombo, and another guy who is still out there when I picked this morning. The only downside is that guys who are short for their position tend to age poorly. I guess we'll see whether that applies to Brand or not.

Thumbs up on the Brand pick - probably the best defensive PF left that isn't a liability on the offensive end. The efficiency is v v nice too - just a solid player to build around.

Mutumbo/Brand were sick picks.

Brand was exactly who I was referring to when I said there were better options available even at PF when Worthy was picked. This is a good selection. I had about 7-8 guys in mind that I figured would go next when Worthy was taken. Brand and Worthy were both on that list, so I'm interested in who is going next.

Watching Brand play the last few games of the last season left little doubt in my mind he's gonna bounce back from this as good as ever.

FWIW Brand was #3 on my list of players that I wanted. #2 is still left (as is #4). Very good pick.

I think you all are severely underrating a player who, if not for an injury that should've been taken care of better, would be considered an all-time great. At his best, there's very few players who were better at the position (see Bird and LBJ). To say Pippen was better is absurd. At best Pippen was as good as Hill, but there is no way I consider him to be a superior player to Hill.
I agree with you about Hill overall, but I think you're tremendously underrating Pippen and not taking into consideration how much his stats were hurt by playing alongside MJ. Again, take a look at his only year in his prime without MJ- I actually think he should've been MVP that year, he was that good.

Yeah I figured that's who you were talking about too. Bigcat thought about Brand and had him down to the final cut I'm not sure what made him lean one way or the other maybe he'll come back and shed light on it. I know he did mention the injury thing and if he'll bounce back. I think he was kind of hoping he'd slide to him on the way back but I do know Brand was definitley on his radar cause we talked about it this afternoon at lunch.

I really like the Brand pick, but I think a better combo can be had right now by these last few guys, and taking Brand now vastly hurts your chances of getting the other guy.

A lot of fans like myself felt Pippen was the #2 guy in the NBA for most of his career. It's hard to argue with the big fellas out there, though.

yes, wanted elton brand a lot here. he's been pretty durable (save a few ankle injuries) and the achilles is a total fluke.

webber, hill and mutombo were 3 of the other 4 players that i wanted a lot, but sadly they've been taken.

agreed completely. There were some picks like Reggie that I didn't like at first, but then they brought up certain stats(TS%) that made me reconsider. I didn't like Worthy at first, and nothing in the write up made me say "Wow maybe I'm wrong here."

Is the fact that his numbers suffered due to being on a stacked team not offset somewhat by the fact that he played on such fast paced teams and played with the greatest PG of all time, both of which obviously helped his numbers?

Actually thats exactly what we're doing with this draft.

Brand is a sick sick pick. Injury was def fluky and he's one hell of a versatile player. He's such a beast.

BigCat is the guy who kept posting everywhere to get in right? He's pretty LOL with his writeup, arguments, and post-arguments.

i thought brand should have gone waaaaay higher and had him above marion. guy has been a 20/10 guy his whole career, great rebounder, underrated great defender. top 20 or so in career PER and i think his injury was pretty flukish.

mt. motumbo and brand were pretty high on my list and was wondering how far they would fall.

funny, i was looking around basketball-reference last night to look for any potential 80's sleepers and worthy immediately crossed my mind. i thought he would be a great second round selection, but to start your team off with him is questionable. 24 year old rule hurts him as he had an earlier peak and his value goes way down as he hits 30.
