It's fine, i've just seen way too many people in this thread alone not know what words mean and it's annoying getting words put into my mouth etc.

Because nobody is considering drafting VC right now. Basically what I'm saying is to not talk about players that may be drafted soon, as it does indeed influence people. Its not a coincidence that players seem to be going right after they are mentioned in the thread.

FG%

eFG%
Barkley: 55.8%
Malone: 51.8%

TS%
Barkley: 61.2%(7th highest of all time)
Malone: 57.7%

Barkley was loads more efficient, and thats not even taking into account that Stockton obviously helped Malone get more open shots and layups.

Barkley was a better passer(3.9 assists vs 3.1 assists) and rebounder(11.7 rebounds vs 10.1 rebounds).

Barkley has a higher career PER.

Barkley twice led the league in offensive rating, and his career offensive rating of 119.3 is the 7th highest of all time. Malone never had one season with an offensive rating above 117.8.

How about instead of just looking at points per game and then calling people ******ed, you actually research the matter before offering opinions?
bumping this for NoPairParker as I see he just posted in the thread again. Care to respond?

There's still a few big-man sleepers out there, I bet a couple of them slip well into the second.

nice fudge.

edit: And yeah, it is a coincidence, as we're still in the top 30. There's going to be a high correlation. A couple of guys have been talked about quite a bit for about the last 8 picks and neither has been selected yet.

also I vowed to get the 80s Cs front line, but Parish is ineligible and Epip snagged McHale with a nasty pick. So who do I fill it out with? Do I go small and play Bird at the 4 and pick up Pierce later on at the 3 (don't worry no one is considering him yet)? Maybe the Wiggle? Or maybe keep Bird at the 3 and round out the front line with Dino and Joe Kleine?

Never insulted anyone. Just voiced my opinion that malone is much better than barkley. If youve read my posts, I throw the word ******ed around very loosely. Ive called myself ******ed on many occasions.

As I have said before I never have nor will ever be a fan of stats. If you try and judge players by stats you will be doing them wrong.

Malone is better for your team, because of the way he scored and got his points. Similar to how you have to discard anyones stats who plays for phoenix and denver because they are skewed due to the style of their team play. This was the same cause for comparing these 2 players. Malone was a man of the team, setting screens, moving without the ball, running the floor...

While barkley dominated the ball so much it took a lot of players out of the game and basically all they could do is stand and watch him, if he got double teamed they got an oppurtunnity, otherwise stand and watch every possession. You can throw around all the stats you want, but until they start keeping stats for every single thing that happens on the basketball court I wont take stats into any decision I make. How can you decide to count certain things while not counting others ? How can you count blocked shots and not charges taken ? Is the result not the same ? Even better because the charge gets you poessesion guaranteed while block might not.

Although I may not be right this is what I think of the 2.

Ive played college ball and coached high school ball. Was moderately successfull at both, so I know a little bit about what wins ball games and what just fills up stat sheets, however my knowledge of stats is super minimal because I personally choose to ignore them. This may or may not be the right way to judge players.

I can tell you have a history in basketball as well, but you choose to use stats pretty often, as do a lot of the posters here, which is certainly a different way to look at things. Most coaches I know, are not looking at players stats to rate their performance.

Someone mentioned earlier that off the court issues have to also be considered, and barkley was not a great teamate in the locker room either. Loud mouthing all over the place, self involved, not really looking out for the teams best interests.

I thought it was way too early to start with the "I have no basis for my argument, so I'll use the I've played HS/College/Semi-Pro basketball and know what I'm talking about" angle. There are quite a few points you still could have made.

Just because I make an argument for a certain player or a team, doesnt mean I bbelieve it to be 100% the truth. It is how I see it. You can either agree or disagree, either way.

It is my opinion, and I only stated my back round in basketball to show where my opinions are coming from.

Hahah yeah that's the point I was gonna make also Bobbo. Nique was the man on Atlanta. He did all he could for that team but never really had a great supporting cast. I'm pretty sure he lead his team in scoring for all of his years in Atlanta so I would say that's a pretty good #1 option. He never got past the semis because the Bulls, Celtics and Pistons were all better than the Hawks and probably the Sixers a few years.
