Just wanted to provide a clearer look at how I plan on using my team:
PG - Terrell Brandon (5'11), Micheal Williams (6'2)
SG - Andrew Toney (6'3), Danny Ainge (6'4)
SF - Eddie Jones (6'6), Bryon Russell (6'7)
PF - Derrick Coleman (6'10), Nene (6'11)
C - Shaquille O'Neal (7'1), Manute Bol (7'6)
For the regular season, I expect these players to miss some time:
Terrell Brandon will likely miss 10 to 14 games.
Micheal Williams will likely miss 8 to 10 games.
Derrick Coleman will likely miss 15 to 20 games.*
Nene is a question mark; I'll peg him to miss 10 games, but with him it's either miss all or nearly all the season OR play all 82 games.
Shaq will likely miss 15 to 20 games, similar to DC.
I expect these players to play all (or nearly all, like 80+ games)
Andrew Toney, Danny Ainge, Eddie Jones, Bryon Russell, Manute Bol**.
*DC, like Shaq, take time off the regular season and generally sit at the slightest degree of pain. This is fine for me, as I don't want to exhaust them in the regular season: It's all about the playoffs, Baby.
**Manute should be expected to play all 82 games under the condition it's limited mpg, as even with his odd body type, he never really got hurt, but that is also because he never took a beating consistently.
Of course I hope these injuries don't happen all at once, because if I miss Nene for a season and Shaq breaks his foot resulting in 4-6 weeks of no Diesel, then it looks like my front court is remarkably shallow. In any event:
If my PGs miss time, the plan is to shore up backup duty to either/or Toney or Ainge, since they both can defend and play the point. (Toney is a natural combo guard, and as long as Ainge is the other guard with him, cross-matching shouldn't be an issue). If have to play a 3 bigman rotation, I'll end up moving Bryon to the 4 and play a small lineup at the ends of quarters. It would look something like Bigman 1, 36mpg; Bigman 2, 36 mpg; Manute ~14 mpg, small lineup ~10mpg.
The "natural" order of things will be: (This is assuming health, and likely the string of minutes during a playoff push)
Terrell Brandon, 32 mpg @ the point.
Eddie Jones, 22 mpg @ the 2, 16 mpg @ the 3.
Bryon Russell, 30 mpg @ the 3, 2 mpg @ the 4. Not expecting to need a small lineup more than those 2 minutes.
Derrick Coleman, 32 mpg @ the 4. His minutes will be the steadiest since I never envision him playing anything other than the 4.
Shaq, 36 mpg @ the 5, 2 mpg @ the 4. Same deal here, minutes are up in the playoffs, and I need my best player on the floor to the utmost degree. The times he's at the 4 is the VERY rare time Manute is on the court with him - for pure defensive purposes I envision this happening during critical stops.
Backups:
Micheal Williams, 10 mpg @ the point, 2 mpg @ the 2. (When I go small w/ an emphasis on 3point shooting) I'd like to give him more burn, but my team just doesn't permit this.
Danny Ainge, 6 mpg @ the point, 24 mpg @ the 2, 2 @ the 3. (Same small ball approach) He is my 6th man, obviously.
Andrew Toney, at this point I don't think he's in my 8 man playoff rotation. More on this later.
Nene, 12 @ the 4, 10 @ the 5. All those backup 4/5 mins are going to him.
Manute, 2 @ the 5, basically a 8 man rotation but Manute will have those defensive sequences where his time is needed.
I like how my team came together. From the onset I stressed balance, and it looks like my starting 5 is one of the best offenses in the league, and a top third defensive team. When I need to switch gears, I have the flexibility to go small; I can focus on defense and put an all-d team out there; and I also have 3pt shooting from numerous positions. My guys draw a LOT of fouls (more than any other team, largely thanks to Shaq) and we also rebound well. Outside of DC, I don't have any bad lemons in the lockerroom, so I hope the alpha-male Shaq will keep DC in line.

I think my worst pick was Derrick Coleman. Everyone ragged on me when I took him, and I can see why they're right. Even though he is ultra talented, the fact he's injury prone, a headcase, and not that efficient hurts the rest of my guys. (Especially since I don't need DC as a primary scorer; he'll likely be my 3rd leading scorer after Shaq and EJ, but Terrell, Toney, and Ainge can all light it up, so I'd rather they take the shots he's going to take) DC is a good defender, but nothing special; he's a good rebounder, but nothing special; I think I had better choices. Here are some guys I passed up (that would be better fits) in favor of DC: Charles Oakley, Brad Miller, PJ Brown.
My other pick that I doubt (now that my team has come together) was Andrew Toney. I love his talent and game, but his value is more realized on a team that lacks scoring. He's a combo guard that can't shoot 3s, a Monta Ellis type before Monta Ellis. As you can see from my rotation, he gets squeezed out in the playoffs since I need to pair him with Ainge if he plays the 2, he's not really a natural 1 and I'd rather give Micheal or Terrell those PG mins. Since my 2s and 3s are the healthiest on my team, and I have a backup PG already, I probably could've gone after a backup big.

My best pick was Eddie Jones. Shaq was an obvious pick (although I did consider LeBron briefly) and I think he'll payoff. With him on my squad I truly could contend for the championship. In any event, I wanted to emulate the Laker teams, so I needed my Kobe: A 2 or 3 who could play lockdown defense, take over games, and score in multiple ways. Eddie Jones was a very underappreciated player, and although he's obviously not Kobe, he was the best I could manage. I strongly considered Ron Artest and Sidney Moncrief, as well, since I wanted a #2 scorer who could play incredible D, but Artest's low efficiency and psychoness scared me off, and Moncrief's lack of outside shooting and health problems led me to take EJ.
The other pick I really liked was Bryon Russell. I got him after "high profile" glue guys were taken (the Posey model) and not only did he fill the requisite Jazz player slot on my team, but he's a positive team lockerroom guy and a poor man's EJ. The fact I have 2 top notch perimeter defenders was important to me, especially a guy that could stretch the D. At the time I thought this perhaps was too similar to EJ, but now I'm happy I pulled the trigger as 2 of those types are NEEDED for a winning team.

The major question mark for my team is health. Not every team is perfect, and my imperfection rests with Shaq's foot, DC's head, and Nene's balls. If things go right and they're able to play 100%, I think I have a championship team. If not, my team will not be successful. Teams that have the best chance to beat me are those teams that have a tall PG. Sounds weird, but it would force me to not use Tee Bee, and play EJ at the 2 more often. This would stretch my team's depth, since EJ is counted on playing a bunch of 3 minutes. I don't think a dynamic wing player will be able to dominate (outside of Micheal Jordan, for instance) since I have lockdown perimeter defense and excellent help defense. Same deal with post presence - I don't expect anyone to push my wide bodied guys out of the lane. The other teams that should do decently are fast paced running teams that will make Shaq tired. If I am forced to adjust to them, I could see them getting the best of me.
The teams I would exploit the most are those that only have 1 (or none!) solid bigman. Shaq and DC draw an INORDINATE amount of fouls, and since both can score in loads, it's possible to just keep running plays for them. This may sound strange given I say small teams may have the best chance vs me.
Anyway, I enjoyed this draft very much, and appreciate any comments.
