D
he probably goes in the top 10 if you get him at 24 and before the injuries

If you got them at any age and guaranteed full health, I'd go:

1. MJ
2. Shaq
3. Lebron
4. Duncan
5. Magic
6. Sabonis
7. Hakeem
8. Bird
9. Robinson
10. KG
11. Stockton
12. Kobe
13. Malone
14. Penny
15. Barkley
16. Paul
17. Ewing
18. McHale
19. Pippen
20. Howard

Just threw that together really quick, and theres definitely a chance I'd change things around if I thought about it more.

meh I don't know. It looks right. The thing is he's most definitely a center, not one of those hybrid guys who can play PF.

The only Cs in front of him I could see taking Sabonis over are Jermaine O'Neal (who's more of a 4/5 guy), Bynum (an awful pick), and Brad Daugherty (due to format). Maybe Camby and Chandler, but I can def see why one would choose those two over Sabonis.

He can't go over any of the 1st round Cs nor Laimbeer or Divac, imo.

Of course I'm sure I'm overlooking some teams that didn't grab a C before he was picked but I don't feel liking looking that closely into it. Maybe a steal but not a gigantic one.

Sabonis is weird for this draft b/c if you pick in the 2nd round, you think, man I can't take sabonis, for my second pick I need a guy that will be around more than 5 years. But then he gets scooped up in the 3rd and tbachs front line for the first tournament is hill/kemp/sabonis and you think, *** i should have taken him. Its like he should have gone in the second just someone couldn't have taken him in the 3rd, if that makes any sense.

I know where you are going w/ this. Timing has been a big deal in this draft.

Yeah, if someone has to tell you they know funny, then... yeah.

(That said, I'm pretty sure they've aired some Mr. Show late at night before, so I have to give them props for that. Although it may have been Comedy Central.)

I'm pretty sure you're right.

I think the tipping point for me was when watching something on TBS, they actually paused the show mid-conversation for a commercial for the Bill Engvall show.

blah, i dont like this team. camby is great and all but they really need another inside presence. would love rodman, mace, oak or laimbeer too.

pls. this is just absurd. none of us saw him play in europe and even if we did it doesnt matter bc we have no idea how he would fair against the best here.

no way u can put him above those other big man.

Putting him ahead of Hakeem/Robinson is pretty dumb, but to be fair, he was a hell of a (25 minute) player in the NBA post-30.

yeah. Pretty much. I wouldn't def say he'd be ahead of Hakeem or D-Rob, but I wouldn't be shocked either. 62% TS% 25 PER while manning the middle of a great defensive team is no joke as a 31 year old, even if it's only 25 minutes a night. And he did 32mpg 2 years later and his offense didn't suffer too much.

Either way we were robbed by not having Sabonis in the NBA in his peak going toe to toe w/ The Dream and Admiral.

I felt the exact same way about Durant....always felt as if he was good value, but saw how much it'd hurt my team to waste an early/mid pick on him when he won't be good for a few years. Kinda wish I took him anyway though. I still think we're way undervaluing young players who are "too unproven", especially those who have already proven to be efficient and good on D.

I'm pretty sure if the draft was to be re-done, a lot of people would pick much differently. Problem with this in comparison to let's say a the current draft is a lot of players from the past are less than well known. There are essentially 3 types of players, 2 of which don't exist in an actual draft. 1 in which we have pretty have great info about (retired players), veterans where we have good but not great not info about and young players who we have little to no information about. Then group 2 and 3 most here are much more familar with than group 1.

I think though... People have been overrating group 2, about normal for group 1, and underrating group 3. but only slightly
