I do what I can. I'm not the only one updating, I know KLJ has added the teams tab and I assume has been updating some of the players as well, because I'd say about half the time I go to update it someone has beaten me to it.

How does Assani TS% love S-Jax? He's a chucker extradonaire. And he doesn't rebound worth **** for a 6'8" forward.

I didn't like him for my team becuase of his shortcomings that you mention. However, hes great value in the middle of the 7th round imo. 52.3% is indeed a poor TS%, but its not horrendous either. For a comparison Tracy McGrady's career TS% is 52.2% and Allen Iverson's is 51.9%. Plus hes much better defensively than either of those two....oh and yeah those guys were first rounders!

Dennis Scott, SG/SF



With my 7th round pick, I'm going to go with Dennis Scott.

Let's get the negatives out of the way first, as Scott was not a great defender by any stretch of the imagination. His career DRtg was 110 but in his defense his worst full season of DRtg (his rookie season) came on a second year Orlando team that had little to no talent around him. His defensive rating remained high for his career but with Robertson and Malone around him, I feel like he will be protected a little bit.

Despite his weakness, Dennis Scott can do one thing: hit the 3. For his career he was a 39.7% shooter from 3. Scott also had one season where he connected on a then NBA record (and still just 2 off the record) 267 3's, shooting 42.5% from 3 that season.

Another bonus I found with Scott is that for over half of his career games, he came off the bench which means he should fit into this role perfectly with my team. I can bring him off the bench for 20/25 minutes to bomb threes and continue to expect his high quality production.

The final thing so far I like about my team is their ability to hit FT's. I'm pretty sure everyone on my team shoots around ~ 75% from the line with a few guys hitting around an 80% clip which should help out my team greatly.

FWIW I think he is a bit of a chucker and sheet rebounder, but he's got a lot of other attributes (passing/defense/versatility) that somewhat make up for his inefficiency. I tried to compare him to previous players, and the one that kept sticking out was Dan Marjerle. What do you think?

So, I said I was going to do a recap on some trades. Here are the first few:

Clark and Dudd got things going with Clark sending his 2nd, 5th, and 8th round to Dudd for Dudd's 2nd, 6th, and 8th round. At the time everyone felt Clark completely owned Dudd (the actual numbers were 53, 214, and 308 for 63, 178, 308 I THINK) There have been some other trades since then, but the "meat" of the trade was:

Dudd got Tony Parker and Larry Smith
Clark got Larry Nance and (technically, he was then traded) Jerome Kersey

I think Clark got the best of this deal.

Epipen then made quite a stir when he traded up w/ KLJ - it was (I believe) #41 and #160 for #60 and #100 right - at the time we felt 20 spots for 60 later was very nice for Epi. The actual players ended up being:

Epi got Chauncey Billups and (then later traded this pick anyway) Lamarcus Aldridge
KLJ got Sidney Moncrief (very well could've been the pick of the draft) and Mark Eaton

Interestingly, I think KLJ pwned this trade, only because Moncrief would've been great value @40, and w/ the run of defensive centers (esp. DPOYs) no way would Eaton have lasted to 160.

The next blue chipper was JoA moving up - the trade ended up being 85 and 196 (AC Cobra) for JoA's 113 and 128.
It was - Mark Aguirre and Derrick McKey for Rolando Blackman and Rik Smits.

I don't know who won this trade. The "typical" argument is that whichever team gets the best player typically "wins" the trade, but here I just don't know if there is a huge difference between Aguirre and Blackman. Further, there weren't many good bigs drafted after Smits, and although McKey is a nice player, there are many defensive-minded 3s available around him. I think this is a wash.

Another 3rd round trade that didn't make a ton of sense at the time was Cowboy and Tbach -

Tbach got Arvydas Sabonis, Kevin Durant, and James Posey.

I actually think Tbach got the best of this - I think he got the best player (Sabonis) the best potential (Durant) and the best role player (Posey) - Cowboy got a very talented Big man but inferior to Arvydas imo, Grandmama and Mr. Unclutch. Cool trade though.

The next trade was one of my own, which was a minor debacle. But I didn't give up much... w/ Fadi
His 102 (this pick) and 382 (10th round)
For 119 (3rd round) and 279 (7th round)

I ended up taking Derrick Coleman and a player unknown (parlayed it in another trade imo)
Fadi took Brad Miller and a player coming up (soon!)

Seadood228 was the next guy involved in a trade, w/ Clark, for the next pick thereafter:
Seadood trades: 3rd (112), 5th (169), and 7th (272)
for
Clarknizzle: 3rd (103), 6th(223), and 7th (253)

It ended up being Seadood taking Hornacek, Bobby Phils, ??
Clark getting Mookie Blaylock, 169th he parlayed into Caron Butler (trade w/ KC, 169th guy was Ricky Pierce) and player unknown

I think Seadood got the best of this one; everyone thought Clark was going for Hornacek straight up (great value there) but moving down to swoop up Blaylock didn't make a ton of sense for his team. Even though Butler is def. better then Phils, I really like Seadood's direction; he got the best player and best fit, and the dif. between Caron and Phils isn't as large as the gap between Mookie and Horny.

The three things that I would add are that Chandler would definitely been off the board @ my pick (TDarko was next pick and said he was going for Chandler after I picked). Second, Sabonis was not on my radar (my mistake) but TBach and I had revealed our intentions during the PM exchange, so I could hardly reverse course and pick Sabonis post-trade. Finally, Sabonis, while beastly, will not play in this league as long as Chandler.

If I had not made the trade, I would have had neither player - and I think having one of these two in the third round (based on available picks remaining) is key to the construction of my team.

Great writeup Bobbo. I really thought that I got raped in the trade as far as picks went, but I felt Hornacek had dropped enough and he would be going soon. I planned on taking a role player in the 5th, and it all ended up working out.

I was out for a bit, and I didn't realize you guys would run it back to me so quick. Gimme 15 minutes to get er done.

This part of the draft has always been good imo.

I would love to redo this thing with maybe slightly different rules to change things up(maybe like you get the players at any age and guaranteed healthy), but do it all in one day with maybe 1 minute time limit per pick and no writeups required until after the draft.
