Fine with me to give them two picks.

I'm already LOL'ing at the reaction BiiiiiigChips/Big Cat is going to have upon seeing this.

Point them to my and xorbie's post count in this thread, and then compare that to BagCat's.

While I agree that it doesn't fit at all in my first couple of years, I think by year 3 (possibly even by next year) Durant could start putting up the stats he's supposed to. Plus, I wanted to have a little bit of a future and I think that Durant at 29 (while everyone else is at 34) could be the best wingman in our league. So it's a start.

PS: I figured out how to use proxy's so now I'm back on 2p2!!!!

I think some offenses will be better (the Kobe, Rashard, Big Al team comes to mind OTOH), but because of how good defenses are going to be, they won't look as good. IMO. Also, like seadood said, more depth.

Durant basically kept getting better every month of the season. He went from like 5 3PA to 1.5 3PA, and over the last month of the year, he was shooting over 50% from inside the arc.

- Hand check Rules: Perimeter defenders lose of their value as they are not as effective as they once were.
You need personnel to run defenses. That's why I built a really long team. I was watching some sports science show the other day, and basically adding an extra inch to your length adds like 3 feet overall to the area of your reach. Or something crazy like that. BTW, for anyone with comcast sports net, you gotta catch that show. It's awesome. They get some pretty famous athletes on it too (they had Quentin Jammer on it to see who hit harder between rugby players and football players).

I really like your team and think it's above average (IIRC, there were 14 teams that I really liked (not including my own). Also, some people might view it as a little less because your team won't really hit its stride until a couple years into this thing. But then it realllllly takes off.

2. Top 16 teams based on total points (39pts for 1st vote, 38pts for 2nd vote, etc) pair off in a "which franchise would I rather own" playoff style bracket with seedings.

3. Each matchup gets a thread, and we progress single elimination style until there is a winner.
I like this. I know I'd be down for a bigger thing, but it seems like a lot wouldn't and this is a good compromise.

I think a lot of teams in this league are very versatile and while they may not look so hot on paper could really punish a lot of teams.

For example, a lot of owners went with big dudes who are +def but don't really have much offense besides being passed the ball next to the hoop and laying it in. Against a team like that, a team like nath's could start Dirk and Boozer and kill you with a well balanced post game and a ton of outside shooting. In order to prevent that you need a legit post scoring threat with size.

Similarly, take a team like Clark's. Defense looks real beastly obviously. But then look at a team like NPP. Well Larry Nance was tall but not very strong, you could easily get away with sticking Gerald Wallace on him. And Wallace has enough range to shoot a 3, so you force one of the great shot blockers to play away from the hoop. And by bumping G Wallace to the 4, you can actually go stretches playing Ben Gordon, Monta Ellis and Dwayne Wade at the same time (since Monta can cover Mookie, Gordon cover the smaller Houston and Wade can sorta man up on Butler. Suddenly this team is ridiculously quick and basically can't be covered.
Seriously just give BiiiiiigCat's team to xorbie and D

In the spreadsheet, at the top there is a 'teams' tab.

seadood,

your team is very good. It does lack the "here's the ball, now get me a score" quality though. but your offense is like a 7.5/10 and defense is like a 9.5/10, so you should be well ahead by the time you need to get that basket.

Our picks will MELT YOUR FACE.

OK, maybe not. Maybe its more of a "toasting" action.

Your face will be LIGHTLY BURNT AROUND THE EDGES.

I will be so pissed if you steal my facemelter. FWIW, I am 80% sure BigCat's pick here would have been Len Bias.

Ah,. thanks.

My favorite teams (not nec the best):
horizon- If only the Cavs surrounded LBJ with half this talent!
Seadood- Amazing team.
cowboy- Want to buy season tickets, also think somewhere in top 10 talent wise.
tbach- In the short term I think this team is incredible, not enough love.

If we're going to skip them, lets get the pick up ASAP. It makes no sense to wait two days before finally coming to a decision because BiiiigChips might log on and see that it's time for his alterego to pick and the draft is no longer sped up by skipping. So, lets get it done.
