I really wonder about Grant Hill. He's was quite healthy before the big ankle injury that basically destroyed it's carrer. It's really debatable in my opinion.
It might be better to forget about the freak injury distinction and say that the player your pick will have the same career in your team than inreal life, Robinson misses a year, TMac misses 10 games a year, and Grant hill plays for six years before being useless.

Kidd's awesome, but Bobbo nailed all the points why I wouldn't have picked him there. that said if you can land a sweet 2/3 in... 20 picks, then you'll be fine.

Because when I talk about the two MVPs remaining, one white and one black, nobody knows who I'm talking about.

these are the reasons kidd slipped:
1. your #1 pick is a guy who really even in his prime could not score. his highest per 36 mins is 18ppg when he was 29, and 16 when 22. Career wise he's 13.7 (or 14.2 on 37.3 mpg, his avg)
2. not only could he not score, he can't shoot, either. even at his best, his highest eFG% was .481 as a 32 yr old (weird his best shooting seasons have come late - sad that he was even worse of a shooter earlier) and owns a .453 eFG, which for this sort of league, means no one needs to put a good defender on him, and forces you to draft to his need; an excellent spot up 2 and/or 3 guard shooter so that people can't just constantly double team the post
3. one of the most unusual players since his skillset is unmatched, that said, he's fairly overrated due to his passing ability; he owns a career PER of 18.7, and still hasn't played through his entire decline (this year finished ~16.7, prob will play 2-3 more years at just under that production)

The positives are self evident and obviously he's great value at this stage but i still think there is another PG that should've gone before him.
That's definitely fair.

Anyone care if I add myself to the end of the list as pick #38?

I think you can make an argument for Kidd or the other PG being better in this format, and imo it really depends on the team you build around him. Under most circumstances, I think the other guy would be the better pick.

Love Ewing but it was too LDO to give any credit.

From what I recall about Clyde, he was the typical "plays great D when he needs to" 2/3 like the others. Overall I think it's a great pick and completely justified over "The SF." I probably would have taken him the other guy though, because he makes finding a PG less of a need.

McHale is also a great pick.

I think the picks get very interesting from here. There are so many directions you can go.

Mchale was an awesome pick, and with the choice the Epipen had I think he went the right way as well. Not so sure on the Drexler and Kidd picks, think there were better players that fill the same needs and not sure I'd like to make them the focal point of my team.

I don't think your first pick has to be the focal point.

I actually had someone else in mind until HSP named that person. Can I PM someone my person and so someone more knowledgeable give me their opinion on where they should go?

I am probably over valuating this person, but don't want to throw out the name to the public.

edit: To be fair, I guess it should be someone not in this draft or who has already picked?

Yo seriously tho guys, how hard is it to just say you don't like a certain pick because there were better players before without even naming their postion (then wait for those players to get picked, THEN say that was the player(s) I was talking about once they actually get picked by a team).

Like obv it's not a huge deal right now (even though it's annoying and I woulda been extra pissed if someone mentioned McHale before I picked), but it's def something that we should do as the first round nears a close.

Oh, spare me. As you can see there's still debate about the role of injuries.

Clarifying that part of it is way more important than ZOMG someone in the 6th round in late July might have forgotten about Danny Manning!!!

Actually, the rule is a little silly.
The point is to build a time according to your overall strategy and who is available, and to generate discussion by discussing choices.
If the whole pointof the draft is just to hope somebody makes a huge blunder because he just forget about somebody, I don't get it.
For instance, I have no problem with somebody discussing Drexler vs McHale just before the picks were made. The point of the game for me is who would you rather pick first to build around? Mc Hale or Drexler? Kidd or the other P.G.?
Not Oh my god I own the draft because everybody forgot that X was availaible.

It's not about naming people, I have no problem with every player being named, it's about discussing players before they are picked. Drafts are supposed to be based on skill (ie. who can draft better), if everyone starts listing off the pro's/con's of each player, and why a certain player is a better fit/player than the one who was just picked, then people who have no clue what they are doing benefit greatly, and people who do get punished. That is not supposed to be how a draft works.

We might as well not even bother drafting, if everyone is going to debate the pros/cons of each player before they are drafted.

so long as hes healthy, which is a concern. so is defense. but he is such a sick athlete that its also very possible he develops into a defensive monster and rick carlisle has a history of orchestrating such transformations.

some honors: 3 time all star. rookie of the year. 1st team all nba (stolen from lebron but whatever.) 2nd team all nba twice.

amare is perenially one of the most efficient offensive players in terms of per, true shooting % and shooting percentage. he rates very high in win shares and offensive win shares but im not really sure what that means. i think it means he scores on fools with ease. i like that.
