Sorry for picking on you specifically Victor, but there have been so many 1 sentence write ups lately that kind of take away from the awesomeness of this draft.

Francis, Glenn R and a couple of other guys have similar reasons of why they fell.

He wasn't picking on you or anything, and its not as much about the write up as just posting who is on your team. Its a pet peeve of a ton of people because then we have to go search for your picks to see how the fit is and such.

Well, it's no Posey pick, but I guess it'll do.

Great pick.

Gah I just got back and saw that it got to Bobbo and I didn't get to trade with him.

Still looking to trade up. I'll send PM's/offers to the next few guys.

I'm kind of meh on Gordon. I can see a case for him if you use him situationally. He's money from 3, but all the other shots he takes really lowers his value.

wow i need to start trading down imo, 6 down now for 50something later seems pretty good. win/win though, i dont think big dog would have lasted those 6 picks

For a chucker, he's had a really good TS% the last two years. Compare him to someone like Stackhouse who was taken much earlier, I think it's a pretty good pick.

apples to oranges

its hard to compare the TS% of a spot of shooter with someone who can create their own shot, because the spot up shooter is lower on the food chain.

i.e. the spot up shooter gets his opportunities as a result of a creator (assuming this guy passes), and/or a big man (again assuming he passes).

bg definitely ain't just some spot up shooter. He's like a way less good ray allen.

Ben Gordon is one of the reasons JR Smith was a really pick

I like putting Gordon with Wade. You don't have to ask him to play like a point or guard other 2s.

oh i know, just generalizing. although to an extent, i'm sure you get my point. like how kobe doesn't get open shots that he doesn't create for himself, whereas much of the rest of his team gets open shots

if you get a guy who can shoot really, really well (but do nothing else), and put him on a team with 4 other guys designed to get him open and he has a TS% of .800. does this mean he's an efficient player? efficient shooter? 'good' player?

this is why the TS%=good player is an over generalization.

I mean, if a guy is lights out from 3 point range to the point where he has a TS% of .800, I'd say he's probably the most valuable player in the game if he has a high usage rate. I don't see why being outstanding at one facet of the game, jump shooting, is less valuable than being a mediocre guy who can "get his own shot", albeit at average to below average efficiency.

Is this like the question if all a hitter ever did was walk, how valuable would he be? Because in both cases the answer would be "the best player ever"

um ya there is like a .000000001 chance that someone could shoot .800 ts% for an entire year in the current nba while taking a decent amount of shots

Because when a guy can't do anything but spot up shoot, all you have to do is leave a defender on him and he won't get his shot anymore. If a guy could shoot well enough from 3 to have a TS of .800 then the defense would just never leave him to help in other areas.

This is why 2 way players (Bowen/Battier/Bell/Posey/Prince etc) are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much more valueable than spot up shooters who can't play defense.

I'm really starting to wonder if over half of the people in this thread/forum actually watch basketball instead of looking at basketball referance.

I wish we could name undrafted players, because one of the best 3-point shooters ever only got like 6 ppg for his career precisely because he couldn't do anything else. If he had gotten a high usage rate at his TS% he'd have gone a long time ago but he couldn't get a high usage rate because they just didn't leave him when the playmaker (whoever that was) broke the defense.
