I went through some pages looking for the top 10 stuff, and found the post that JOA quoted (its on like a mid 70 page on 50posts per page), but I wasn't going to post it just to let it all die.

It really is amazing if you go back and see some of the instances where he brings up McHale out of nowhere and derails the entire thread.

Ok lets change the subject.

If this draft included guys like Kareem, Wilt, West, Russell, etc, how do you think the top 10 would change? Would Jordon still be number 1?

I'd have to say that the top 5 would be Jordan, Kareem, Wilt, Russell, and Shaq, but not sure about the order. Thoughts?

Wilt would certainly be #2 imo.

I'll take a stab at it.

1. Jordan
2. Wilt
3. Karem
4. Shaq
5. Russell

I think I'm underrating Russell though, I dunno.

I'd go Shaq 2nd still.

You need floor spacing, its a must in basketball.
I dont remember the last time I saw wade just spotting up at the 3 point line, even when Miami had shaq. Wade is constantly in motion as are the other players mentioned. They dont stand around waiting for a 3 point shot, they pass and cut and continue moving and with their speed they will be hard to keep up with. Also wade is allowed to travel without even being called that should create more spacing.

Also my team will not be a half court team, you best beleive they will be running a lot. Forcing a ton of turnovers and getting a lot of fast break points. Pick an rolls with bynum and wade, with back door lobs to gerald wallace.

They all have good 1 on 1 talent, but none of them are selfish in the way Carmelo anthony is, so passing isnt gonna be an issue.

All that being said, spacing would be an issue if I didnt fill the void with my bench, but what you have to understand is have 1 shooter on this starting line up is just as good as having 0 shooters.

The team with danny ainge would have been great had they not had the weakness of Terell brandon, having one bad shooter is just as bad for your spacing as having 3. Your only as good as your weakest link.

For what my offense is set up to do there is no weak link, however the weak link for my offense would be 3 point shooting, and I have already planned ahead for that and my bench guys will be filling the void and might even be playing the crucial minutes ends of games like the lakers do with vujacic coming in for end of games.

@ Nopair-

T. Brandon was not a bad shooter. At all. Career 35.5% from 3, peak at almost 40%. Not saying he's elite, but he's not even close to bad.

PS 87+% FT%

meh I think you got it right (maybe.. I'm sorta biased against Kareem's pansy-ness), but I think he is generally underrated. Some sick defense to be seen in some of those classic games.

which reminds me. I had game 7 of the '66 finals DVR'd, but the broadcast suckkkked. Instead of just showing the game like they usually do, it was "hardwood classic", and they had Satchem Sanders and Sam Jones in the studio talking while it was going on. Sooooo awkward.

I'm taking a CLE (legal education) class right now and was counting on you guys to come through with some picks so I wouldn't be bored to tears. Not only no picks, but McHale babble? Thanks alot, guys.

D,

what do you think about my starting 5? Best defensive team of all time? Should I consider going with a Doc/Durant/Hill/???/Kemp lineup and leading the league in posters made?

If you could just trade for Chambers to round out that starting 5! Back in the day on the Sega Genesis, Tom Chambers could two-handed dunk from 3 in Lakers v. Celtics. It was a banned move amongst me and my friends b/c it was UNSTOPPABLE. Before we banned it, I would keep going to that move and yell, "Nuts in your face, bitch!" It was awesome.

Seriously sick team though, I think Arvydas is your weak link on D, and that's a good thing.

Yes on Miami Wade didn't shoot 3's but they had other players that did thats the whole point, u can't have 3 Wade clones on offense (which is basacally what Ellis/Wallace are and they are both worse than Wade), Wade in Miami had 3pt shooters to spread the floor.

And wtf? Having 1 bad shooter is much better than having 3 bad shooters.

Hahaha yeah adding Chambers would be sick. Sega needs to drop a NBA Jam 2k8 so that we can see D12, LBJ and Amare on that. It'd be ridiculous IMO.

Also, I will be rooting for your team b/c Kemp is prob one of my 5 fave players of all time. I love his youtube clips, esp the one where he dunks on a unnamed GSW player, gets the and 1 and the guy gives him 5 for dunking on him. So great.

They would prob mess up NBA Jam by adding in too many new features / making the game too complex. The should just leave the game the same and update the rosters.

There was this indoor gym/arcade where I used to play ball in HS. After we got done playing, we would play NBA JAM. The weird thing about it was that the "big head" code was perma-on. It was funny tho'

Also, jeebus is this class boring, although the instructor who is this heavy set woman of color just answered a question about discovery of public records and then pointed at some guy that was nodding and said "yeah, you know what I'm talking about"
so that was fun, I guess.

Thomas is a solid pick here and I like him getting a defensive presenence down low too.

Thomas was a guy I would have taken had I picked up a backcourt player earlier. I like him a lot, but he peaks kind of late imo.
